Intel's new strategy confirmed
Intel
will unveil its new strategy focused on the digital home at next week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the New York Times says this morning.
Intel is changing its focus from computing hardware to selling a digital lifestyle to consumers. The article
acknowledges that "the transformation of Intel will, in part, be defined by its new alliance with Apple
Computer."Intel execs confirm that their company is building a Viiv multimedia platform for the digital living room using Core chips code-named Yonah. These chips may be the basis for an Apple set-top box that would give Apple dominance over the next wave of home video.
The Intel Inside moniker will be replaced by an new slogan -- "Leap Ahead" -- according to the Times. This will be part of Intel's effort to tie together its different platforms and rebrand itself as a warmer, fuzzier consumer company.

I wish, I wish, I wish I would've gotten Apple back @ $12.95 when it was in the dumps before the stock split.

The mini will be updated, or at least the yonah mini will be announced. Apple will also at least demo the new yonah based Apple set top box.

Did anybody else think of the Leap Frog educational stuff for kids when they heard the new slogan? That's the first thing that I thought of when I heard the "Leap Ahead" tag line. What's next, is the Intel theme being replaced by a simple "ribbit?"

The logo reminds me of the logo for samsung and apparently the new chief marketing officer came from samsung. Hmmm...
I also think it would be great if the processor for Apple is known as I1 (capital i and #1, just like the processor for IBM is G4.) This would be a dig at IBM that Jobs could do. :-) To show that Intel actually won, the processor would be called i1! HEHEHE
