ROKR disappeared from Cingular's phone list
Being that my family
just switched to Cingular over the holidays, I've been poking around their site to see what it all can do. To my
surprise (and delight), I no longer see the ROKR in their list of available phones. Now this could just be an issue in
my zip code, but I verified with a couple friends across the US and they don't see it either. What this means, I don't
know. Coincidence? Stock shortages? Some kind of event going on soon? I'll let y'all decide on that one.

Not available in my area either (DC)... maybe they're transitioning to the E2? To top it off, this makes only two Motorola's currently in Cingular's stable... the V557 and the V3... Are they out of favor with the company again?

Good catch. I tried searching for 'ROKR', found some results, but on the links that I've clicked I'm returned to the main Cingular page. Interesting, indeed.
It's questionable if it's related to the event tomorrow, but this is interesting, nonetheless.

And by 'searching', I mean searching on the Cingular site, not google.

yeah the E2 is coming soon, so I bet it's just a transition to the E2

Well, considering that Moto's RAZR v3i (with iTunes) was supposed to be released 4Q05 and it's currently 1Q06, could it be the RAZR? I doubt his Steveness would use MWSF to push a Moto product, especially when they are pushing iTunes out and bringing in their own music app.
Perhaps it could be an iPhone... or perhaps Cingular just realizes the ROKR is best used as a door stop, not a phone and pulled the piece of ____ off the site.

Hi.
The ROKR was given end of life status by Cingular last week, meaning we won't sell it anymore.

How soon is NOW? Heard of an event called CES?
The brick and mortar Cingular stores have next to nothing in them now, naturally enough. LG, Sony Ericsson, Nokia, etc.. barely a single phone to choose from. It would be a bad time to grab a phone with one of the largest "soon to come" gadget shows currently wrapping up.
Oddly, I did still see a Rokr on display at Cingular yesterday.. Its not like they are moving.

Yes, they ditched it to make room for the new ROKR, which wont have iTunes on it, big surprise there. There's a nice little article on it at http://www.techdigest.tv/2006/01/ces_2006_motoro_1.html
