Following Paul
Guyot's release of Einstein, the Newton emulator for Linux-based
PDAs, the race has been on to get it running on different devices. At last week's Worldwide Newton Conference, Paul gave a demo using a Sharp Zaurus, and today, Andy Diller has got it working on his Nokia 770. Very cool! The existing Newtons will eventually stop
working, so it's great to see this taking shape. Remember, if you have a Linux-based PDA with X11 support, you can
(most likely) run the Newton OS.Good work, Andy!
Update: Paul has made the Nokia 770 binaries available.

Thanks, it's been fun so far. Big thanks to Paul Guyot over at Kallisys- he deserves most of the credit!

He made a special binary for the Nokia, I think he had to adjust the toolchain for the libstdc on the Nokia and he had to enable FPU support. I think the Nokia will turn out to be much quicker than the Zaurus.
Most of the work invovled hacking the 770 so that I could kill the Nokia UI (without the built-in-watchdog rebooting the device when I did) to free up enough ram to run Einstein.
Please watch Paul's site for him to release more polished versions of the Einstein application for the Nokia. And don't forget you need to get a MP2100 Rom for this to work.

How is the speed? Is it usable as a PDA? I want one too. Can you port it to run on a Tungsten T3? Please? :)

Is that possible full screen on the 770? That would be a reason to get one...
