Dell kills Jukebox players

Looks like Dell is throwing in the towel as far as their hard drive-based Jukebox digital audio players are concerned. DailyTech reports "stiff competition from Apple and others" resulted in the decision to discontinue the line, although they will continue to sell their flash based DJ Ditty player.

From what I can tell, the Jukebox has already disappeared from Dell's product site, so it seems it might already be too late to jump on the now extinct players.

Look for Dell to discontinue their aptly named DJ Ditty players soon. The DJ Ditty has ditty market share. If you hold Dell stock you should sell it now. Dell has nowhere to go but down.

#2: Why shouldn't a post related to the iPod and the market it occupies be on an Apple-related blog?

If the US Government (theoretically) suddenly outlawed all hand-held devices that play music, without specifically mentioning the iPod, would you deem THAT worthy of being here?

(And, for the hundredth time, TUAW is a blog site, not the Associated Press or CNN - they can post whatever they like.)

Ahem. To quote Michael Dell, "Apple is just a niche market player. They will be out of business in a year or two. If I owned Apple stock I would sell it now."

Thanks Mike.

Should this really be considered TUAW material? Questionable at best (IMHO)...
