Track live shows in your town with Podbop

Podbop is a pretty interesting service. Enter your city and state (it seems to be restricted to the US as well as major cities) and receive the url to a podcast that not only tells you which bands are going to be playing live in your area (as well as when and where), but also lets you listen to music by said bands. What a great way to discover new music (a live show is better than a music file) or keep up to date with your favorite smaller groups. Check it out.

Give the service a little time, it just launched and because it is socially oriented it will take some time for it to spread. Take a look at the creators blog

he is a smart guy and it's well built/designed i think. It has a chance, just don't judge it before you have anything to judge.

The artists must have MP3s in PodBop's data base. The data base seems to be limited. Selections came up sparse for both Portland and Seattle. Streaming is missing for most acts that do appear. This proves to be, in the phrase of the moment, a 'proof of concept.'
