Star for iTunes

I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for little applications that do one thing very well. When you add an icon from a Super Mario game, well you had me at hello.

Star, from Improv, Pastence, sits in your menu bar and allows you to set the number of star assigned to the currently playing track in iTunes. That's all it does.

Star is free and a Universal application.

if you're not using you software's "you control: tunes," you're not really using iTunes. it happens to do that menu bar trick. and more. for free.

I use the iTunes Artwork Dashboard widget for this purpose. It might be my favorite third-party Dashboard widget.

Speaking of tiny iTunes add-ons:
I really like this... Makes it real easy to use a mostly unused field in iTunes, the BPM (Beats Per Minute) field.
Here's the deal: if you exercise with your Pod, it helps to have the music moving in time to your workout (How about 62 beats per minute?)
This little app lets you tap out the rhythm of the tune, and with a mouse click, insert the number into the BPM field.
Then, sort the songs on the BPM field in iTunes, sync, head out for a walk, to the gym, and rock on.
