Long-time holdouts Red Hot Chili Peppers in the iTunes Music Store

Do you remember when Napster was huge (about ten years ago), and digital file sharing was on everyone's minds? Metallica and The Red Hot Chili Peppers were sort of leading the anti-p2p charge. Several years later, when the iTunes Music Store demonstrated that the online distribution of music could be accomplished successfully, the Peppers refused to participate, stating that (among other things), they didn't like that customers were able to purchase individual tracks, as it interrupted the flow of the album, or some other artsy thing like that.

Anyway, this is why I was very surprised to find nine Peppers albums in the iTMS this morning [iTunes link], including some exclusive stuff and videos. I'm glad you guys have come around.

I was online late last night when the RHCP page was being uploaded. I'm... So... Pumped! I even got to put the very first comment on Blood Sugar Sex Majik, my favorite album of all time! Although I already own all these albums, getting the bonus songs will be, well, a nice bonus. And I can't wait for the double album in May. The Red Hot Chili Peppers rock my socks off. (You true fans know what I mean)

Hmmm. I bought a Peppers song from iTunes last year. It's from a greatest hits album, though. Maybe the other albums weren't up then. I'm not a huge huge fan so I don't remember precisely what was there and what wasn't.

looks like the chili's have done this just in time (before their double album Stadium Arcadium comes out)
Looks like they are looking to maximize their revenue from the online market (and given that they have been working on this album for 4 years who would blame them), just like the Arctic Monkeys have done. But this is a good move by them shows someone's using their heads.
Great Band, Great Decision !

I bought an Red Hot Chili Peppers album over 4 months ago (don't remember the exact date at this time). So they have been around longer, or maybe just in the local store (NL) here...

Interestingly, the price of each album is $12.99. Not the typicall $9.99.

But listening to incomplete albums does interrupt the flow of the liquid love that is Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The Chili Peppers, The Beatles, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, etc. just need to realize that if they don't put their music on iTunes, then people will download their stuff illegally. All it takes is an overnight download to get their entire discographies in lossless. Get over yourselves and make it easy to download your catalogs. Heck, you might even make a few extra bucks, so you can feed your kids.
