Apple, others, form Digital Data Exchange

Apple along with 10 other organizations (including Sony and Microsoft) have formed the Digital Data Exchange. What the heck is the DDEX? It is a group that has been formed with the goal of coming up with some standards for the distribution of digital content, starting with music.

If you want your voice to be heard you can join the DDEX for a paltry $25,000 annual membership fee.

I SUSPECT that Apple is the one that initiated this. I bet they started to feel some pressure or acquisitions of monopolistic (is that a word) practices. Probably figured the start of forming this group to arrive at a universal solution would be good timing and fit in well with their plans to carry FairPlay as far as possible. I say this becasue it SEEMS that eventually the iTMS will obtain virtually a 100% market share (which can be interpreted as being close to 100% - enough to constitute a monopoly).
