GmailUI Extension for Thunderbird
If Gmail's UI floats your boat but you prefer using a desktop email client for 'no waiting for a refresh' feel, Ken Mixter has developed a Thunderbird extension just for you. The GmailUI extension brings many of the shortcuts and search expressions of Gmail to Mozilla's Thunderbird client. Keyboard shortcuts like J and K for moving up and down through messages, as well as search expressions such as 'subject:' and 'from:' can now be a part of your Thunderbird experience. Ken even went so far as to include Gmail's 'archive' functionality and (oddly) a quick calculation function, right from within Thunderbird's search box.The extension appears to be completely free, and Ken is accepting feedback and suggestions at his site. Head over to Mozilla's addons site to grab the extension, or check out Ken's site for a lot more details of everything GmailUI is capable of.

Now.. anyone has seen a web-based email client SIMILAR to gmail.. I love the interface and the clenaliness but, i want my own email (me@mydomain.com) there, and i want to have it in my server, not outsourced to google.

Nacho, you could do what I do with gmail - I redirect email from me@mydomain.com to my gmail account. Then in the gmail settings you can choose a new outward email address, so you put in me@mydomain.com, and sends it with that address. Seems to work pretty well, and you get the great gmail interface with your own address.

I like having my email stored securely on Google's servers so if my server ever crashes I won't lose my emails.

You can also go one better - Gmail actually offers a 'Gmail for your Domain' program. I don't remember the link, but Google it. I applied for one of my personal domains (the service, of course, is in beta) and it only took a couple of days for an approval.
