I went looking for a show that I saw on TV last night & there it was! So. Great. It's sitting on my hard drive & I can play it in Google Video Player whenever I want. But, since it's in a ".gvi" file format, I can't get it to play in any other media players. More to the point, I can't do any of the necessary things to it to burn it to a DVD so that I can watch it from my sofa instead of on the computer. (Bearing in mind this is freely available & not piracy.)

you're kidding me, right? for a crappy video player?
As someone else said, the point is that this allows you to view purchased movies.

I'm not saying I like the google video player, I was just answering the question of "what's it do?" that a few people seemed to have.
snid: But what's the point of it still? You can view those videos in QuickTime, what's the point of this player?

All this app does for me is open up safari after I type in a query. Nothing shows up in the player at all. I've reinstalled to no avail.
June 07 2006 at 11:18 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have the same problem as #5 & #9. Seem like I'd have to go to the site and download the video to my drive and then play it. That can't be right. What gives?
June 07 2006 at 11:17 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGVP lets you download and play movies purchased from the Google Video Store. Before, you could only watch the free films.
June 07 2006 at 10:13 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have to agree with #5. I type a search term in the field and all it does is open safari and search there.... don't understand what this is supposed to do. I must be missing something.
