Gates to pull back on role at Microsoft in 2008
This isn't specifically Mac news, but it is a name we all know well. Bill Gates has announced that he will be stepping down from his full time role at Microsoft, something that I certainly didn't see coming. So, who will take over? Ballmer? We should be so lucky (think of the comedy potential). No, it looks like the torch has been passed to Ray Ozzie. So long, Bill, and thanks for all the fish.

Sean S,
They linked to a framed version of Netscape to purposely plug the new Netscape Rip-off of Digg. Isn't that great?
ive read this multiple places as well. personally, im not a big fan of micosoft at all, but hes taking the noble way out and i respect him for that. he came, he saw, he conquered, and now his giving back. "with great wealth comes great responsibility" or something along those lines. vista is giving him enough headaches, im sure hes had enough.

Am I missing the relation of the fish quote?

June 16 2006 at 9:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt is clear why he is stepping out. Microsoft is on its top and with all the problems there are with Vista and nothing innovating that Microsoft brings, I would have done the same if I were Bill.

June 16 2006 at 7:55 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFirstly, this is yesterdays news (as pointed out by Mark). I thought it would've been reported already, and when it wasn't I thought it was because it's not necessary Apple related (again, as already stated).
Secondly, the related photo/image is sort of a cop-out. No AP image of Mr. Gates? What about the classic Gatesborg pic? Or the Time magazine cover with he and wife as "Man of the Year?"
Thirdly, the link goes Netscape's framed version of the article, not the original. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but since it was the first time I had visited Netscape using this computer it took me to a full-page splashscreen.
Mark, they said it today in the news, so I don't know if it's old or not, and I'm surely not saying that tv news sources are always good.
