A browser just for Google Calendar

Remember the distraction-free Gmail browser by Michael McCracken? He apparently struck a chord within Chip Cuccio, as Hawk Wings has tracked down Chip's follow-up with a browser just for Google Calendar. This app more or less rolls the same way too: it's based on WebKit and is designed only to give you clean, distraction-free access to staying organized with gCal. Heads up though: Chip isn't offering any support for the app, but you really shouldn't need any in the first place. However, he snagged the app's icon from Open Clip Art, so ping him if you want to spice the icon up a bit.

Webmail can access Gmail and the Google calendar, but this app can only access the calendar so the former is a little more useful. In all fairness, this calendar apps renders the page better.
I understand the comments that these simple apps don't really add too much value, but unless your browser is set to Gmail, it takes longer to access your mail/calendar; Firefox took 3 times longer to display my Gmail: YMMV. These small apps are not for everyone but I find them useful.
Is it for 10.4 only? Hummmm

Why not make it all inclusive of all the google tools? Imagine... Gmail, GCal, Reader, Search history, News, froogle, checkout and Maps.
okay maybe some of you would still poopoo the idea, but if google marketed it, it would be a great promo tool for them and make it easier on the less technically savvy to use google. (You laugh, but I've met these kind of people.)
I don't know for sure, but it looks like the reminders don't work for this app. Which makes it *less* useful than the standard browser based one. Hrmph.

June 20 2006 at 2:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis is probably the most useless 'application' I've ever seen. Is there anyone using a Mac that's retarded enough to get distracted by Safari?
