iTunes/Coke promo coming
Abandoning Pepsi, Apple has extended the olive branch to Coca-Cola. According to Digital Bulletin, Coke and Apple are currently wrapping up the details on a "...substantial iTunes promotion." Word has it the deal will put Coke-generated content into the iTunes Music Store (much like the gig with Nike). On a personal note, I'm sure glad I don't have to force myself to drink Pepsi just to swing a deal with iTunes. Coke, here I come!

I don't drink a whole lot of soda, but pairing an iTunes promo with a soda that I do buy on occasion makes me more likely to drink more of it. No one drinks Pepsi in Texas. :p (I kid, of course, there's probably ten people who do)

Totally! I was having to choke down Pepsis to get a free song. LOL, Let me see, I paid $1.00 for a Pepsi that I hated to get a free $1.00 song. hmmm, someone tell me the logic in that.
Well, the only thing I can think of is that my wife would be pissed if she saw "iTunes Music Store" on the credit card bill wereas the pepsi I can use a dollar in my pocket. LOL

Hmm.. Coke generated content, so, they'd be giving away Rick James albums?

I've been under the impression this deal is just for the UK?!?

Whatever Pepsi is so much better! Although Coke could use some advertising help from apple. I mean all they got are those boring sappy little polar bear commercials. It's all a matter of taste I guess. I'm dissapointed on the divorce of pepsi and apple.

Well Thomas - the logic is choice, you don't have to buy music from iTunes or try to win it. I have found buying CD's are much cheaper than iTunes and will continue as the iTunes bit rate is rubish.
As for Coke v Pepsi - both are crap and bad for you - real fruit juice beats them all!

Apple have a music store here so I don't see anything to do with Apple and Coke happening in the UK

Coca-Cola just did a 1 min cg spot that will be in theatres this summer. They are even making toys for it. It shows a world inside a vending machine. Perhaps they will have video downloads for that and their "Coke Side Of Life" ad campaign...?

Coca-Cola just closed their MyCokeMusic store in the UK (which at launch was the UK's most popular). Maybe this is related?

Considering the PR trouble that Apple is potentially in regarding the labor practices in "iPod City" you'd think that they would have thought better than to pair up with an infamous and notorious human-rights violator such as Coca-Cola.
The Coca-Cola Company has been accused of human rights violations including; use of paramilitaries in Colombia, mistreatment of unionised employees and taking the groundwater required by farmers in India. Not to mention the preponderance of research that shows the negative effects of HFCS (high-fructose corn syrup) linking Coke to diabetes, bone-density disorders, and obesity.
As an Apple aficionado, i'm glad Apple can roll with the big boys, i just wish they'd be a bit more discernig about who they roll with. C'mon guys, think different.

Huh. Must be in the minority here, as I vastly prefer Pepsi products to anything Coke puts out. Never been a big Coke fan...tastes too sugary to me. But I'm not here to debate Coke v. Pepsi...
No matter, the only real iTunes promotion I particiated in was the 7-11 Slurpee thing a few years back. It was an unusually hot summer, so free songs to cool off a bit was nice.

I'm with #3-Random. Pepsi just doesn't sell much in Texas. Now if they could have a promotion with Dr. Pepper, I would have to buy a new iPod just to hold all the music I would be cashing in on with the bottle caps.
Heck, bring back the Slurpee promotion too!

Well if you read the MDN post, it's all clear. This is for the UK only, now that MyCokeMusic has closed, and will be for Coke Zero which will soon be launched, presumably replacing Diet Coke (not sure).
