Woz and Buzz to take Hydrogen Hummer to South Pole
Before we dive into the actual story, lets just take a minute to sit back and appreciate just how fantastically bizarre that title is....
Ok then! Mac daddy Steve Wozniak has announced that in December 2007, he and Moon man Buzz Aldrin (second person ever to set foot on the Moon) will participate in an expedition to the South Pole in which the intrepid explorers will be conveyed by Hydrogen fuel cell powered H1 Hummers.
The Apple co-founder revealed his plans at Stanford University's AlwaysOn conference. The modern day eco-friendly adventure will be filmed using 3D cameras for use in an upcoming James Cameron film. According to Woz, the team has received significant input from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, which runs three of its buses on fuel cells.

I hope those Hummers can float... unless they plan on driving across the ocean floor. :P

I totally agree with Dan: that is the coolest title of the 21st century. If someone from 1965 could look into the future and read that, they'd know for sure we'd all have flying cars, personal robots, and all the Tang we could drink in 2006.

If Woz was really hard core he'd go to the South Pole on his Segway.

Now we know why James Cameron didn't take Aquaman 2.

Mac Daddy? I don't recall Woz having anything to do with the development of the Mac. In fact, he led the "Apple II forever" drive at Apple. The original Macs had an IWM chip (Integrated Woz Machine) to handle floppy disk I/O named in honor or the Apple co-founder, but that is the extent of Woz's involvement with the Mac.

When they get to the south pole they will play a one-on-one polo match on their hydrogen powered Segways.

Also he will be using the umbrella on his head as a controller to drive the Hummer.

Just a correction:
Driving an SUV across Antarctica is not Eco-friendly. It is merely less Eco-harmful than driving a gas-powered vehicle.
"Eco-Friendly" and "Environmentally Friendly" are very misleading terms. Consuming less of a product than others is not environmentally friendly, just less environmentally harmful that some other options.
And there's nothing Eco-Friendly about a Hummer, unless it's recycled into bicycles or kayaks.

Well, I guess that's one way to find Atlantis (and a rather economical one at that); use the weight of the Hummer to crack the ice covering the "lost" continent. Maybe they should pick up von Daniken on their way down there so they can all share a Coca-Cola with the fun-loving polar bears.

I live and work in Antarctica. It seems that most of the comment leavers don't know anything about antarctica and the story as stated in the article doesn't seem plausible although not impossible. A few years ago some crazy people drove a six wheeled van from McMurdo to south pole.

"Driving an SUV across Antarctica is not Eco-friendly."
Well, you can't exactly do it in a Prius. Get off your high horse and let other people do what they want.

How do you refuel a hydrogen powered hummer in all those latino countries? I mean even the diesel hummers get 10 mpg at best. (My friend has one) I can't image you could easily drive the length of Mexico without a refuel let alone the entire coast of South America.
