Concrete iPhone info?
Looks like we might finally have some reliable information regarding the specifics of the long rumored iPhone. MacRumors has posted a description provided by a "reliable MacRumors.com source" of the upcoming device as well as an artists rendition of what the phone might look like. Judge for yourselves, but this certainly strikes me as the first mock-up we've seen that I could really see Apple releasing. The sleek simple design closely follows the look of the 5G iPod line, and it makes sense Apple would take advantage of user familiarity with the interface and the recently announced iPod games. According to the source, the clickwheel will slide down to reveal a standard numeric keypad.[Thanks Jason Kraus}

Uhm... photoshop!, look at the borders, the screen doesn't have a light reflection. Fake!

Whenever it's released, be sure that it will not be what anyone expects. It will far exceed expectations and will sell like crazy! I say we'll see it Macworld 2007

@1 I think you might be pretarded... anyway the mock up is cool, especially if the keypad is hidden away under the click wheel... hope its cdma/evdo so people can download movies or songs directly to the phone

The iPhone won't look like the garbage you guys just posted. No buttons on the phone? Anywhere? Cmon now. This post is about as reliable as the "Showtime" keynote breakdown from a few days ago. Tube what? A 16x9 iPod that had major issues with the touch interface only a couple months ago is ready for store shelves? Right. Let's not get too carried away with nonsense on this site - the factual posts are much more interesting, and worth reading.

I can definitely see it looking like this (if it exists at all).
It may also explain why Apple reverted to mini-style aluminum/colors for the nano. That way, the mini-lovers are happy, and now the nano-style lovers will have a device to buy if they REALLY liked that style.
This differentiates the iPhone and nano lines nicely.
HOWEVER, I find it hard to believe that Apple would release something with a screen that size BEFORE a 6G "true video" iPod. They won't let the iPhone have the biggest screen in the product line.

Except that it says the scroll wheel slides down to reveal a number pad (rather than the number pad sliding down from behind the wheel), this seems awfully similar to the LG "Chocolate" phone from Verizon.

#6- iLame- If you could be troubled to read the last sentence in the post, you'd see "According to the source, the clickwheel will slide down to reveal a standard numeric keypad."
Although, despite the headline, I sincerely doubt that it will be made of concrete. It's sturdy, but impractical.

I really hope that's not what the iPhone turns out to be. I'm holding off buying a Treo because I'm hoping that the iPhone will be spectacular and this mock up is less than spectacular.
Also, how exactly is the phone going to work with service providers? Is Apple planning on letting me buy the phone at the store and then slip my SIM card into it? Or am I going to have to shackle myself with yet another 2 year contract and service upgrade?
Since I've been a Mac user for less than a year I'm not totally familiar with all the rumors. Any chance some Newton-like functionality will pop up with future iPods or phones?

Can we move on from the iPhone rumors?
How many times have the rumor sites hyped up expectations to be completely and flatly wrong about the iPhone?
Everytime.

If this "mock up" (read Photoshop) was all you need to be convinced that Apple is going to be releasing this as a phone, you guys really need to seek professional help. This also could've been a "mock Up" of somebody's idea for an iPod widescreen, all they had to do was make a slot for the phone speaker and presto! Way to ambiguous for my tastes.

Actually I would love to have an iPhone, but the rumors surrounding just make me sick. Although this is a nice picture.

Does it strike anyone else as weird that the scroll wheel would slide DOWN (creating some kind of weird valley between the screen and the wheel?!) as opposed to the whole thing sliding UP (similar to the Chocolate)?
....that seems like an odd way to get to the keypad to me.

OK. I'm tired of reading these stories. TUAW, MacRumors, AppleInsider are now posting any story that was the word "Apple" in it. Next headline: "Breaking News: Apple to release iCigarette.
