Lots of people emailed us about Disco, the new app from the folks behind AppZapper and MacZot and we didn't post about it. Why? Because there was very little information about the app, other than it was supposed to be super cool. This all changed recently, though, since some screenshots were posted to the Disco blog. Disco is a disc burning utility that tries to make burning discs easy and fun, and it is taking aim at Toast. Check out the screenshots for more info.

Dammit, I just bought toast too. But toast can do a hell of a lot more than disco can. I'm glad it was only 5 bucks.

Awesome. Glad I spent the $5.00... I would be more than happy to ditch Toast. A mac burning app for mac users. Awesome!

Have you seen the free LiquidCD? I can't imagine you'd need anything more than what this free app does.

Disco seems like a good product, but their build up advertising seemed to have more promise.

I don't like the burning features of Mac OS X but I like Toast... not sure if I will use Disco a lot (but I bought it).

I, for one, welcome the idea of a simple, attractive, light-on-bloat-heavy-on-fun burning application. IMHO, Toast becomes more and more bloated with every update.
I only need a simple burning application that does that one task and does it well. And after using AppZapper (over and over and over again), I'm willing to bet my $5 that this application will fill a much needed hole in my application library.

I'm going to reserve judgment until it's finished. There are a lot of burning utilities: Toast, Liquid CD, Burn and....uh OSX. But Toast has gotten bloated and is way, WAY too expensive. Burn, I have no experience with. But Liquid CD is still plenty buggy. It's a good coaster-maker.
The question is, can Disco provide all the functionality of Toast but make it simpler and cheaper? I don't know why not.
The only thing keeping me tied to Toast, BTW, is Jam. Anyone know of another (good) Mastering/Mixing program?

I think it's a little to hard to judge exactly everything Disco will do.
The preview they have up on their site is basically just that, a preview. I think reserving judgment for when the app comes out and we can finally see what it's all about is in order here.
Saying something is crap or "glad I didn't waste my money on it" before knowing the full extent of the program's features is quite juvenile.

A UI is not everything. I am in love with BurnAgain
http://freeridecoding.net/burnagain
not only is it simple to use and has a beautiful ui,
but it does unique multiple session to one volume burning.

@ Travis
How is Toast not "A mac burning app for mac users?" Toast is Mac-only, and as simple as all get-out. I'm not a Toast junky, but anyone who would say that Toast isn't easy as cake, as well as powerful, is just plain stupid.
Although I like the idea of competition in the market, I haven't seen anything that says this will actuallyt compete with Toast.

In what way is Toast bloated? It launches quickly and performs every task quickly and reliably.

Could someone please tell me why I need a program like this? Right now I just pop in a blank disc, and drag items onto the disk folder, and hit burn. What am I missing?

I hope it allows for mounting disk image files to look like CDs to the OS. That is the only thing that Toast is good for. OS X can handle everything else for the most part

Do comapnies even care that the names they pick are already in use?
"Disco is professional dj mixing software for live mixing music with your mac."
http://www.discosw.net/disco/index.html
Seems they may be a little bit more in line with the name.

The lovely people at disco just raised the bar to $149.50 for the top toast spot at http://yournameontoast.com
Very clever.
