Stay on top of classes with assignment planner

I've always thought keeping track of school-related courses, assignments and projects was a little clunky with apps like iCal and Entourage, and apparently Logan Rockmore agrees, so he created assignment planner. Answering the call of students everywhere, assignment planner brings a number of classroom-focused abilities to the time management table, including:
* filtering assignments by completion status and type
* course and textbook tracking
* color-coding assignments based on your criteria
* Dashboard widget to quickly monitor assignments
Naturally, a demo is available, but assignment planner's price is just right: $5 scores you a license for this Universal Binary app.
Thanks Ronald

Are there any good, SIMPLE applications like this for client-based projects?

Looks cool. But crashed (failed to launch) on my PowerBook G4 running 10.3.9. Is it 10.4 only?

Hey guys, thanks so much for the interest in the program. I'm glad you all enjoy it!
Eddie -- there is a bug that causes it to crash in 10.3.9. Another gentlemen helped me to debug it (since I don't have a 10.3.9 machine to test it on) and we did get a running copy. I will be releasing Assignment Planner 2.3.1 with the fix tonight, when I get some free time.
Thanks!

Another choice is School House
Just a heads up so there is variety! Hopefully one of these devs can really expand and make an amazing school organizing application!

Schoolhouse - seems similar, but free: http://www.loganscollins.com/?page_id=13

I remember creating one of these programs myself when I was at school. Programming it served as a fantastic distraction from school work, and thus it didn't really help me much :(

Change a few titles around, and this looks like it could be a good basic project planner for the rest of the world that is not in school.

iCal works for me.

That's what I'm saying. How does iCal not work? Especially if I input assignments into my phone and then send a bluetooth sync to it. You can't beat free in my book.

There is also iProcrastinate.

As if that wasn't enough, there's also Task List, an open source homework app.

Sweet! The 2.3.1 version works on 10.3.9. Thanks, Logan.

I love all these alternatives!
If you're looking for something web-based (i.e. so you can pull it up in your school's mac lab as well as at home) check out http://gradefix.com. It also has some slick scheduling algorithms that can boost your grades.

No problem! I've had a few other 10.3.9 users check in, so it looks like it works well. Thanks.

Assignment Planner is a great piece of software; I used to use an OmniOutliner document to keep track of assignments but AP lets me accomplish the same thing much more easily, and I really like the calendar view. It's been a big help to me while trying to balance a full-time job and part-time grad school.

This looks like a glorified iCal. If it had the ability to send me a text or an email to my phone I would use it rather than create a new calendar in iCal.... I'll stick with iCal.

Thanks for the post. I have been looking for some software like this. iCal just does not cut it. I have even missed a few assignments on iCal just because you have to look a day ahead to see what is due in what classes (if that makes any sense). Thanks.

I like iCal too but lately I’ve been using gCal more and more since it's online and it does do that cool little text thing like someone else mentioned above, among other things. Assignment planner looks like a nice program and economical for the college crowd, but I think I’ll stick with gCal for now.

I saw the Grade fix posting the other day, for the app at gradefix.com, that is very impressive. Thanks for posting that. I have never seen a planner that has intelligence. Thanks for pointing me to their site.
