Target Ticked at Apple/Disney iTunes Deal
The Business section of the CentreDaily reports that Target may pull its Disney-based in-store promotions. In a nutshell, Target doesn't like that Disney is selling movies at the iTunes store for less than it charges brick & mortar retailers. Supposedly Target has already removed displays for Cars. In retaliation, Disney may not ship "Dead Man's Chest" DVDs to Target.
Now, now boys. Can't we just all get along?
As for me, I saw Cars at Walmart for just over 13 bucks and snatched up a copy rather than download the $12.99 version at iTunes, which I'd actually been planning to do. iTunes may cost less, but you don't get that nifty actual disk and all the extras. (Of course, you don't get all the stupid can't-forward-through-the-FBI-warnings either.)

Target is only French if you pronounce it:
Tah-JAY
;)
hey tundraboy,
target doesn't have customers.
target has guests.
It's ridiculous because the retailer should have no power in bullying companies like this. The only way they'd ever have the power to speak like this to a retailer is if they gained way too much power, and thats when the US government needs to start anti-monopoly proceedings. Not so much for target, because they basically got laughed off for this, but if Walmart were to pull a move like that, I cant help but feel like they'd get a lot of consideration.

One of the interesting aspects (utterly missed by the TUAW blogger, of course) is that a disproportionate number of Apple managers and officers come from, you guessed it, Target. A few phone calls and. . . .
Target. Stick to socks & undies.

In a grand hissy fit for the ages, Target yells at its customers, "All of you who want to buy Disney DVDs, go to Walmart! You're not wlecome here!"

I guess all the Weblogs, Inc. tip links don't do a thing.
At any rate, all the Disney promotional signs have been gone for about about 3 weeks. This includes entertainment, toys, and even clothing. I think we have 1 lighted sign left, and as far as I know, they will be replacing that too.
ArizonaDK, you're in idiot.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/target.asp
from that site:
"The Target Corporation is a publicly held, U.S.-based firm which has been headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, since it began as the Dayton Dry Goods Company in 1902. Target is not now, nor has it ever been, foreign-owned. (A French-based financial institution, AXA, holds about 42 million shares of Target stock, but that holding constitutes less than 5% of Target Corporation's outstanding shares.)"
and so what if it was French owned? why don't you explain to all of us what you're trying to say, huh?
i think companies need to realize that right now, the market for tangible goods like CD's and DVD's still exists. sure, people want content, but they also want things they can "hold". i mean, instead of having a 'Cars' DVD wrapped up under the tree, what if Santa gave a little kid a card that said "I've downloaded your present onto the computer"?
ArizonaDAK,
You are totally wrong.
"Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1962. It is the sixth-largest retailer in the United States."
"Some of Target's fans jokingly refer to a Target store as "Tar-zhay" or Targé (Tar-jé) (IPA: [tÉɹËÊeɪ]), as though it were a French word, a reference to its more upscale image compared to its competitors. This trend is incorrectly believed to have been started by Oprah Winfrey, when she used the French pronunciation to refer to the store on her television show. This conflicts with the information in Laura Rowley's book, On Target, which traces the pronunciation back to 1962, the year the first Target opened. This pronunciation has also led some people to incorrectly believe that the company is French-owned"
Hate to break it to you, they are 100% American.
Look it up:

Target is a French-owned enterprise. What else would expect from the French?
