Apple essentially acknowledged that it was working on a phone product during one of the quarterly conference calls. It wasn't direct, but something along the lines of "we're not ignoring it." The only question is when it will show up.

Having two batteries is a good thing because if it's going to be used as a phone and an mp3 player, it's best to keep the batteries separate. The problem with phones with mp3 capabilities now is that if you use it as an mp3 player, the battery dies quickly and you're left phoneless. If you have two batteries, the mp3 player dies but you still have your phone.

"if apple puts out a lot of different prices they'll make alot of money"
For F sakes... no one on that clip knows anything about business.. it's painful to watch. It's called PRICE DIFFERENTIATION .. it's not a fucking apple secret, and its not the secret to a high marketshare.

"apple knows that they can put out a product two months later and people will line up to buy their gadgets.."

what does this even mean.. a year ago you guys were chuckling at the thought of Apple's 'dwindling' marketshare, now they can.. what... put out anything and people will buy it?

You mean like the... gold ipod that no one liked? was that part of steve jobs' genius too? Face it.. you can't predict anything this company does and you don't know why they're successful.

I realize it's tempting to characterize apple customers as slightly insane, perhaps 30 years later it's time to consider an alternate story?

I would so buy an iPhone. I have the Treo 650 now but an OS X enabled phone would be sweet ;)

I think the thought of iPhone 2.0 and alllll the other speculation about an iPhone is EXCELLENT for Apple. There is practically a new post every day on every Apple related site out there about an iPhone. Do you know how much money in advertising this is saving Apple? Probably a lot!

It's great for them, I would think, because they can release something like this at any second and people will trade their second (let's be reasonable here)born child for one! I know I would. Actually, I probably wouldn't because I do not need a cellphone anytime soon. But Im sure if I did, an iPhone would be first on my list.

Wow, so CNBC is reporting on a rumor that Apple, like thousands of other companies, have parallel product development cycles? This is amazing!

Edward > because all of this iphone is speculation!

Trust me that I want an iphone as badly as the next mac nut, but it seems like some critical pieces are being left unmentioned (certifications), which leads (IMHO) me to believe that this is very wishful thinking.
