Trumors: iPhone 3.0 delays force v1.0 shelving for Macworld
Our Truemors series takes a lighthearted and entirely fictitious look at the fast-paced world of Apple products and the rumors about them. None of this is true; all events, quotes, and obtained memos have been entirely made up for your amusement. An inside source, close to the fledgling Apple iPhone 3.0 project, reports that turmoil within the design team may be causing ever-lengthening project delays. The iPhone 1.0, set to bow at MacWorld 07, may be put on hold due to infighting and personnel issues on the 3.0 development team.
TUAW's source said Steve Jobs became infuriated this week during a supposedly routine check-up of the iPhone wing of the Apple campus. After viewing the 3.0 team's Keynote presentation of device concepts, Jobs declared the project to be one of Apple's most "schizophrenic" in recent history and subsequently fired nearly half the 3.0 design team.
Philip Schiller, Apple's senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, has apparently pulled v1.0 from the upcoming Macworld Expo after hearing word of the 3.0 firings. Internal memos indicate a deep company-wide concern about the product flopping, even before going on sale.
At this time, no new launch ETA has been set. The unfilled positions on the iPhone product teams may force the iPhone 1.0 out to at least Q3 07, and possibly into Q1 08.

I would bet that this is exactly why TUAW can't get press passes to events- not because you publish negative junk about Apple, but because of your proudly sophomoric standards, especially since Chartier came on board.

My limited brain functions cannot find the humor in this. And I'm in no way a fanboy or someone who thinks TUAW owes me anything.
If you want to make people smile, do it with (good!) sarcastic comments, much like engadget, and not by posting fake news to the detriment of everything else on the site.
Seriously, first you start reposting the free iTunes links and now you're trying to take over Crazy Apple Rumors.
Please, TUAW, try to keep your content to community-stirring ("what's your favorite shareware app?") and news reposting. I don't like the recent tendency of the site to want to be EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE on the Mac web.
"I think this series is a keeper."
Did you read the comments? 90% were negative, and not just a little bit.
I think you need to think more.
"Your Truemors series should be canceled immediately."
Precisely. This should be the very last of this bullshit. Reminds me of when GuitarWorld had a 'mock interview' with a 65 yr old Jimi Hendrix. It's disrespectful, cheesy, gay, a waste of time...
and especially these days, sneaky
Wow Laurie backing David up. That gave me a laugh. This article? Not so much. What is the point? Especially now with the disclaimer at the top. It's like writing, "This post is utterly and completely a waste of your time." You might as well just delete it or repost it on April Fool's.
Or you know what you could do? Take a cue from Laurie and FOX news by putting a question mark next to the title.
For what it's worth, John Moltz of Crazy Apple Rumors also seems to have enjoyed it:

We'll be sure to be a little more obvious next time, but Laurie had a great point: we're a blog. We're trying to cover the big, the small and the fun. Let's not take this stuff or ourselves too seriously.
...for your "amusement."
To quote The Princess Bride, I don't think that word means what you think it means.
Boy, you guys are harsh. It's a blog. We're human beings. Lame? Sometimes. So what. We do what we do here because we enjoy it. Not because we get $x.xx per post and not because we are trawling for traffic (our numbers are just fine, thanks). You should try that - enjoying yourselves. It's fun, really. If you want hard-hitting news 24/7, try the the BBC. Or CNN. We're a little more casual here on TUAW.
Nice job, Chartier. I think this series is a keeper.
Actually, this is very typical of Steve Jobs, striving for perfection! This is exactly what has rebuilt Apple... though I doubt the firings. Being must upper-level designers are personally interviewed by Steve... he would have just heavily criticized the boys and forced perfection from them all.
