Trumors: iPhone 3.0 delays force v1.0 shelving for Macworld
Our Truemors series takes a lighthearted and entirely fictitious look at the fast-paced world of Apple products and the rumors about them. None of this is true; all events, quotes, and obtained memos have been entirely made up for your amusement. An inside source, close to the fledgling Apple iPhone 3.0 project, reports that turmoil within the design team may be causing ever-lengthening project delays. The iPhone 1.0, set to bow at MacWorld 07, may be put on hold due to infighting and personnel issues on the 3.0 development team.
TUAW's source said Steve Jobs became infuriated this week during a supposedly routine check-up of the iPhone wing of the Apple campus. After viewing the 3.0 team's Keynote presentation of device concepts, Jobs declared the project to be one of Apple's most "schizophrenic" in recent history and subsequently fired nearly half the 3.0 design team.
Philip Schiller, Apple's senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, has apparently pulled v1.0 from the upcoming Macworld Expo after hearing word of the 3.0 firings. Internal memos indicate a deep company-wide concern about the product flopping, even before going on sale.
At this time, no new launch ETA has been set. The unfilled positions on the iPhone product teams may force the iPhone 1.0 out to at least Q3 07, and possibly into Q1 08.

I am positive that there are some people who will have gone into shock before being able to read the disclaimer at the bottom of the article.
I know.
I almost did.

It takes great skill to take something stupid and make it funny. This article shows that the poster lacks this skill.

I was not amused. The quality of writing is going down the drain.

WTF... I don't come to this site to read fake news. I can go to The Onion for that.

Your Truemors series should be canceled immediately.

You should have posted the disclaimer first, then I wouldn't have wasted my time reading it.

And in a related story. Readership of TUAW collapsed today as thousands of readers decided to delete it from their favorites.

The thing is this wasn't funny. In fact it sounded completely plausable. The key is to be funny without being outrageous. This wan't outrageous but it wasn't funny.

Together with Apple Insider, yours is one of the most credible Apple blogs.
This sort of posting destroys your credibility and just adds noise to life.
Please leave humor to the professionals and stop this sort of thing - it's neither funny or informative.
Thank you.

This is the stupidest thing I've yet seen on TUAW: hmm, let's post an unfunny, serious-sounding-but-false report. Um . . . great idea. Not.

I think some of the posters above are _exactly_ the ones targeted. The rumors and analyses of the unannounced iPhone are absurd. I started laughing as soon as I saw the headline. Keep it coming, TUAW.

Dear Weblogs, Inc:
This is what happens when you require your bloggers to write a certain amount of posts per day, even when there's nothing to report. Less quantity, more quality please.

This (or something else in the series) is likely to backfire big time. It's one thing to do Onion-style satire articles. Those can be funny, but the humor depends on some degree of detectable absurdity. This is just made up fake news. If there is humor here, it is too subtle for me.
