I prefer QuickBooks as it is the most powerful (and expensive). For some of us, double entry bookkeeping is the only way to go.

There’s also a major update to TimeNet from http://www.applesource.biz/software/timenet/
It’s more of an invoice creator and tracker than a time tracker, although you wouldn’t know it from the name. I was so impressed by it’s UI that I bought a copy to compare with my current invoicer iBiz; my iBiz has been a bit flaky lately, so I started looking around. TimeNet has lots of allure, and is easy to use. Older versions of TimeNet left of trail of users who were unhappy with AppleSource’s support (or lack of support), but so far I have had experienced the same kind of issues with them.

Oops, that last line in my comment above is supposed to say I have NOT experienced any bad support issues with them!

I stopped using Quickbooks and went on the hunt for a good invoice application. After trying everything available at the time I decided iRatchet was the best for invoicing and my needs.

I'm surprised there's no free invoice creator. I really would like to use a program like this but can't justify 20-40 dollars for something I can do myself in Word.

This program is worth exploring. It has changed the way I keep track of invoicing through its simple, but powerful, interface. The support is superb, and it keeps on getting better.
I also like being able to see at a glance how much I've invoiced, and how much is outstanding — for individual clients, and for them all combined.

A web-based invoicing app is Time59 (www.time59.com). It provides time tracking, invoicing and accounts receivable functions. Free 30 day trial then only $19.95 per year for unlimited use.
