iPhone photo leak? No, just a calculator that looks like an iPod.
Confirmed -- It isn't a phone.Reader "Space Taker" pointed us to fourtitude.com's gallery of images from a recent Audi advertising shoot rife with Apple gear (iPod, MacBook Pro, Cinema Display) and noted an interesting object sitting in the desktop paper tray. With only 41 hours until showtime, why not indulge in some visual speculation? Not to mention, the Audi Q7 is niiiiiiice.
OK, it is white, and vaguely phone-shaped... to my eyes, it looks more like a programmable remote control than a Jonathan Ive-designed phone, but I may be jaded, skeptical and cranky. Perhaps it's a placeholder for the real iPhone and they'll just fix it in post.
Update 8:24 am ET: Thanks to sharp-eyed reader Brian, we have a leading candidate for the ID of the mystery bar: a Brookstone calculator, which just happens to come with the pen holder and calendar also visible in the full image. The design of the calculator appears strongly iPod-influenced, but a cellphone it ain't.
Thanks Space Taker and Brian!

umm... comparing that to the full sized iPod in the picture I can't imagine that fitting in anyone's pocket...

Why would they have access to a pre-release iPhone model?

That pen and that calculator are part of a 4 piece desk set from Brookstone.

@ brian:
Great find! That calc does look a lot like many of the iPhone mock ups.

If that's the iPhone, then its a Nokia E61 for me.

No he didn't? The one in the photo looks longer and has more rows of keys if you look closely.

That's not a MacBook Pro, it's a PowerBook!

Even though Brian nailed it, another thing against that being the iMobile is that it's got a monochrome screen. No way Apple would step back to that technology now.

Damn man good eye thats exactly what it is. I was getting worried since it clearly looked like a black and white screen :-)

If you look at the full photo you can see the clock from the same set as well.

And the Audi Q7 is ugly, too.

There's an Apple on the back:

There's not an Apple on the back of the calculator as far as I can see.. On the laptop and the iPod, sure, but I don't see the back of the calculator anywhere.
Anyway, great news, Apple will release a iCal(culator) today..

Is that counter that Michael linked to accurate?
i.e. Is that the time until the keynote?
I was thinking it was longer to go.

hmm...that looks suspiciously like the AU Design Project "Infobar" phone offered from AU here in Japan from a few years back that I used to have. (http://www.au.kddi.com/au_design_project/seihin/infobar/index.html)
all white with a super slim form factor. Its an older phone by today's standards, but the design was highly sought after and many people still use it since its such a cool phone, and the white one looks very similar. If there were any Japanese helping with the shoot, that might explain it...but the problem is that there is no antenna on the phone in the pic, but the AU phone had a small antenna (which broke off on mine after about 5 months)...I dunno.
