:O Oh My God.
But on a serious note, when will someone comment on the lack of a general consumer phone from this event. This is the MacPro of Phones, surely a consumer one isn't far off?

Nice, but i think i will look a lot less cool after being in someones pocket for a while, scrathes, & dirty fingers will spoil the good looks way too fast in real life use

Where's the GPS? Where's the EVDO?
Imagine how cool the mapping would be if you had GPS, which is getting to be standard on premium phones.
Imagine being able to feed the device with 3G speeds anywhere 3G is rolled out, not relying on local hotspots.
Why didn't they put those in?
Also, if this has OS X, am I gonna be able to open a terminal window, and SSH to my server at home? Will I be able to run VLC?
They were soooo close.... I am disappointed. Oh, and what's this about Yahoo IMAP mail? What's that mean for .mac mail's future?

This is a great phone!
yes it is pricy, but it's a smartphone: they all are!
I keep wondering: where is the camera? Is it that little round thing at the back, or the square thing at the left side of the phone?

Maybe the camera is inside the Apple logo on the back?
I too, am a bit disappointed in the lack of 3G support. But other than that, like the poster above, I wet myself and soiled myself too I'm sure.

Jason,
You have really good points. I agree, but I can't say that I was disappointed. In my opinion I expected less from the first generation. I think the features that you mentioned (like GPS and opting for the faster EVDO) may roll out in later generations. At least I hope so.
I am curious to know the battery life on standby. It's a gorgeous device, and the interface is great. Big text and organic, fluid animation.
Good question about the .mac. Not sure why he didn't demo it on the phone. All I know is if the 30gb .mac storage rumor is true, then I'll consider it in the future.
I also hope I can run VLC.
I also hope I can afford this.

Apple's shooting for the 5% (or less?) of the market that wants everything including the kitchen sink on their phone. Yes, the technology looks stunning. But FAR more people would buy a simple Apple phone, or a fullscreen video iPod, than will buy this monstrosity.
Maybe in a few months they'll introduce some simplified models, when, after the slew of fanboy purchases, they realize that the market for this thing, in 2007 at least, is tiny.

As opposed to other phones that look just fine and dandy after being dropped, scratched and covered with fingerprints...
I'm sure that the accessories companies will have some solutions.

It does look beautiful. does this signal a begining for a new era of Apple design? It certainly looks nothing like we have been seeing from Apple for the past seven years. It looks more like an LG or Samsung product.

If it can share songs over a network like iTunes, and make music purchases wirelessly like iTunes, doesn't this device make the Zune completely irrelevant?
I mean, if it runs OS X and iTunes and has WiFi/Edge, wouldn't the above two capabilities be a no-brainer?
And for people who just wanted an apple branded phone: Just buy any phone and put an apple sticker on it. Clearly Jobs' intention is to go big with this device and converge a lot of things and make them simple. An apple-branded me-too phone would be worthless.
