iPhone.com domain hit hard
iPhone.com, which is not owned by Apple, has been hit so hard today that the site has temporarily been shut down. Created in 1995, according to publicly available domain information, it is currently registered by Go Daddy. iPhone.org, however, is registered by Apple Computer and will redirect you to the iPhone page on the main Apple site--the one with the cool iPhone intro.

odd... when I checked iphone.com late this morning, it went directly to Apple's iPhone page. Perhaps the real domain owner just redirected it to save themselves some trouble?
January 10 2007 at 12:16 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyapple probably checked godaddy.com to see if it was available, and then go daddy bought it out from under them while they got their credit card , and then offered to sell it to them for $5million on the next screen.
maybe not.
but i can't use godaddy search anymore, i have to use ajaxwhois.com otherwise godaddy buys what I'm searching. seems like that should be illegal.
