Nothing in this world is perfect, other than hindsight, and the iPhone is no exception. People will encounter quirks when using this product in the real world. Hey, it happens (especially with a first rev of a complex product).
Dan Warne has given a little thought to the iPhone and has created a list of ten things he hates about it. Considering that the iPhone has been out for less than a day this is an impressive feat. Dan lists, amongst his complaints:
- The battery isn't removable
- EDGE (it is slow compared to the other options)
- 5 hour talk time
Is there anything about the iPhone that you hate? Sound off in the comments.

The only things it's missing is the ability to add third party applications to the machine. VLC, for intance, or GTD programs that could use the calendar to help you do GTD stuff...that's important to ADHD'ers like me. How about a robust word processor? You never know when inspiration hits....how about a program that does voice to text conversion of your dictation for brain storming? How about easily linked external hard drives to hold class notes for students?

Less than a day for a hate-list to come out for a product not even available yet. So many haters...

I should point out that the only reason I chose the word "hate" was because it was the exact opposite of "love" -- and we'd also done a top 10 list of things to love about the iPhone.
Admittedly "hate" is a rather strong word... the phone's quite a breakthrough, and I don't hate the phone as the headline on this story suggests (I just hate the 10 things I list...)
Nonetheless I think all 10 criticisms I list in the article are quite valid. Before you bag me out for bein a hateful, spite-filled person, have a read of the actual article. :)

Maybe some of the so called hate is just love for the product combined with a boatload of thinking different. If it's put in a good way, one may even call it constructive criticism. Problem is us mere mortals never have the full picture on these things. Certain choices are made, some for good, some for worse, but always with a distinct reason that me may not even know of. For instance, of course it would be great if it also included 80 gigs to put all that media on, but HDD based devices eat a lot more battery power.
Enough excuses, now for the complaining. It should have a lot more space, i really can't replace my current iPod with this one just because of storage space. That's the real hangup for me. I'd still be gettin gone though as soon as they are available over here across the ocean.
There's still a lot to hope for obviously. I always wanted to use my ipod as a remote. I know there are possibilities to do this with third party products, but it's never done really right. If this one goes a little further down the road, it might just becoma available. Won't be putting my money on it though, but i'd just like to have WiFi ipod HiFi's that i can put in every room and choose which ones to stream too, much like the current sonos system, but then in an insanely great way.

oh, 'bout the battery. Not much has been said, and i wonder if it really isn't replacable. After all there must be some place to stick your SIM in it and lookin at the pictures i can't really see where it should go. I'm guessing maybe the back comes of. Could be the reason for the different color/textures on the back. Anyone else noticed this or knows where the SIM is going?
Argh, so many questions still to be answered.

"Only a two megapixel camera"
Now he definitely doesn't know what he's talking about. Any idiot would know you can't put an camera more then 2MP in a phone without fucking up the image. I have a Samsung NV10 7.1MP camera, and my old Pentax 5MP that got stolen has a better image output.

I hate the fact that it's a phone and you have to buy phone service. Where's the wide-screen iPod I was looking for?

This was clearly written by the bloke who wants to be remembered for dishing the iPhone the second it came out. How clever of him!
While, most are valid he misses the point that this pushed towards the average punter. If you want to watch movies on the go, why not use the built in player?? There plenty of 3rd party video converters, iSquint etc... which undoubtly will be upgraded. If it an'nt broken don't fix it springs to mind!! I mean you buy a car, you don't go and change the engine now do you??
Personally, from what I have seen it looks remarkable. Nokia and the likes should be worried. I have longed for a device so I can ditch my phone, Palm and iPod. On top of that since this is an Apple product, it will work full stop out of the box and leave others wondering, :"whyt can't I do that??"

I think the iPhone sounds awsome. Once again Apple re-defines a product. I have 3 questions about the device, which may be answered between now and when the unit goes into production. 1.Will it work with my Think Outside BT keyboard? 2.Will it have either iWork or Office integration? 3.Will I able to add third party applications? We will have to wait and see what is revealed over the next few months. My Treo 650 is getting a bit long in the tooth, and this may very well be my chosen replacement.

"iPhone has been out for less than a day" - Actually it isn't even out yet. Although I doubt much will change with the basic hardware, 6 months is a fairly long time software/partner wise. I'm actually kinda surprised Apple announced this so far ahead of release.

From a business perspective, the iPhone seems to be missing a key element. Most of the email attachments sent to me are not JPEGS, they are MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents and Adobe Acrobat PDFs. I wonder what the plans are for viewer applications of these type? GMail has the option to render them in HTML - though far from perfectly. But for push-mail will Yahoo be handling this? This was the number one complaint from corporate Blackberry users until it was addressed at the server level. Even so, rendering of a large spreadsheet still is difficult.

The iphone is very pretty, but I'm sticking to my Treo. I need POP, HTTP and SSH. In an emergency, I suppose that I might even manage ftp from my Treo. Nice try Apple, but I need a real computer in my pocket, not a jukebox.

IMHO, it's biggest flaw is not being available as an IPOD with WiFi option. I would think they could flatten the 'personal media player' market if they releaed one of these with a decent size hard drive in it. Kill the phone part, make the WiFi an on/off option to save battery but still be available for net access when it's available (which is all over these days). I would absolutely pre-order one in a second. As is, I'll never be a cingular customer, so I'll never be a possible owner (not that 8gig tempts me much anyway).
/suprised I haven't seen this opinion on any of the Mac sites much

Bah! People was begging Apple to release an iPhone and now that it's done, they just complaining about, pffff!
However, I'm agree with Dan Warne about one point : 8. No video iChat. When I saw that the camera wasn't on face side, I understood that it's going to be for another gen. But I also know that video-chat is not necessarily easy to stream on a mobile.
