Phil Schiller shows CBS lots of iPhone features
Most of the videos I have seen of the iPhone don't show it in action, but this video really gives you an idea of how you interact with this little device. Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, pulls out all the stops for CBS News and runs the iPhone through its paces.
Say what you will about the iPhone, but as I watched Phil navigate through its interface I couldn't help but think it was all special effects. Good special effects at that.
Oh, and you eagle eyed readers out there might recognize a large man wearing a red shirt in the back ground during the opening of this piece (hint, it's me).

God my lust for this phone is great...and my RAGE is huge for the fact I probably won;t get to see one let alone have one in Oz for a freaking long time. No movies, no TV shows, now no IPhone... it's only far i get to kick someone in the nuts

Anyone notice the one cut (actually a dissolve) in the entire demo? It's when Phil touches the link at the top of the Apple Store. Not zooming (it wasn't a double-click), but he actually clicked the link-- and it probably took an uncomfortably looooong time to load... This is something that's been noticed already, and something we saw in the keynote. WiFi is noticeably slow. Hope they fix that by launch ;)
I'm sure they will though :D

hmm the wifi was slow at a convention center where 4000 people are trying to communicate with the outside world all at the same time via a phone system that probably isn't geared to cope. I wonder why that might be.
It's a real thinker.

I have never been to MacWorld, but I wished I had been to it this year just to take a look at the iPhone. As someone that knew this day will come for years (and did not waste his money on "smart" phones) I can't wait to get my iPhone.

wow, that interface looks fantastic! notice how when he turns the device when looking at the pictures, the pictures just don't "pop" sideways, they actually turn to the new orientation. pretty spiffy.
whatever the phone ends up being named, i'm getting one. i haven't seen a good reason to use cingular's data service until i saw this phone. using google maps as a separate widget (instead of in a web browser) is enough of a "killer ap" for me to lust after this. that would almost make this the ultimate GPS unit as well. i'm sure the applephone 2.0 will have GPS capabilities, but until then, this is the next best thing.

so why haven't we seen that little 2megapixel camera in action?
are they ashamed of it? i would hope it takes a decent photo.
also, i wonder how long it will take for the "photo viewer" to become iPhoto....
...so many possibilities!! :o)

Hey, just wondering what you mean by special effects? Don't you think he was going through the phone properly?

looks beautiful with an amazing ui but I doubt I would get one unless I could use it with Skype since cingular isn't going to work for me. I understand why the camera is the opposite side of the screen but how cool would it be to use this phone for ichat.

Anyone notice that after John Blackstones introduction the unseen reporters voice sounded a lot like Ira Flatow (from NPR's Science Friday)?

Will the sync of email accounts, contacts and browser bookmarks support also software that isnt't Safari and Address Book??
