Macworld UK reports that the Beatles may be joining the iTunes store as early as next month. Rumors from a popular Beatles fansite say a deal has been struck between Apple Computer (now, and tellingly, called Apple Inc) and Apple Music (the Beatles). For me, as soon as I heard that Apple was changing its name and dropping "Computer", I suspected that we might be hearing some news but this is as yet still in unsubstantiated rumor territory. It's not going change the way we live and learn but I'm kind of looking forward to buying "Twist and Shout" as a single digital track.Beatles on iTunes? Finally?

Care to guess the amount of Apple, Inc. stock the Beatles will be getting out of the deal?

How about the ridiculous amount of beatles album art all over Steve's iPhone? I think that is supporting evidence if not a downright admission of guilt.

Hooray! Beatles on iTunes! Because I don't have them on record, tape, and CD yet! Seriously, anyone really want to buy these tracks?

Yea Agreed with Kenny, I think it was quite telling that the were coming to iTunes, particularly after he showed the beatles in the keynote during the iPod bit.

I'm curious if there will be a la carte track purchases, or if we'll have to buy entire albums?

Kenny- I totally agree... When Steve scrolled through the artists and stopped at the Beatles I assumed I'd be able to purchase the music by the end of the day. Franky, I'm surprised it's taking this long.

I'm sure everyone and their mother owns everything by The Beatles by now, but they're classic and will continue to have new fans in the future who will more than likely buy them on iTunes.
If this is an exclusive deal between Apple and Apple, then this will be a big deal. Hell, maybe Apple even bought Apple, who knows.

It would be cooler if they announced the partnership June 1

I think it would be great if they were in iTunes, and somebody said something about the 128 AAC songs of iTunes. Couldn't agree with you more. But I also have to say listening to them on CD right now is no treat either. GIVE ME MY REMASTERS!!!

Great! Now if iTunes could get Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Chilliwack and many other bands it would truly be a great place for music.

The hang up with the Beatles has been on how iTunes will impact/canabalize their releases. The Beatles have X-number of releases planned a year to maximize revenue generated from their back catalog. These sorts of projects (1, the capitol releases, etc) are being weighed against how much they stand to make from single sales.

Didn't anyone watch the keynote? Jobs kept dialing up Beatles tracks during his iPhone demo. Once I saw that, I went to the music store expecting to find it but didn't. I figured that it was only a matter of time.

Naysayers every time, but I guarantee the Beatles will quickly claim the top spots once they're available on the iTS.

One thing seems to have gone over everyone's head. Jobs is a big Beatles fan. He's said so in interviews. From that we can assume that he owns a few Beatles CDs, and being the CEO of Apple, I bet he knows how to rip them to iTunes. I have lot's of Beatles on my iPod, and it all came from CDs.
