ZunePhone: Part Deux
TUAW reader Rich pointed us to this hilarious RegisteredMedia iPhone parody ad, which resonated with me along much the same lines as the video where Microsoft redesigned the iPod package. Perhaps there will only ever be one Jonathan Ive. Perhaps Apple cultivates design as a goal rather than a side effect. But I do find that many Microsoft offerings are more than necessarily clunky.
I'm looking forward to the design improvements I've heard about in Vista, an OS I have not yet had a chance to play with (I'm still stuck in WinXP SP2-ville). And although the Zune does not have the same elegant feel as the iPod (both its physical design and via its interface), there are some actual positive design thoughts that the unit expresses, something I've not seen much of in the past (Yes, I've been using Windows since version 1. It was awful.)
I also enjoyed this parody iPhone-cover from the RegisteredMedia site.

I liked both the Microsoft parodies on the RegisteredMedia.com website referenced here, but I would not give them a plug-nickel for the Obama parody they have on page 1.
I certainly know that TUAW is not the place to discuss pollitics, but what I saw when I went to RegisteredMedia.com, only because it was mentioned here, causes me to at least voice my protest here.
Anyone that wants to know about Obama can easily find out by reading his speeches or books, or watching the news from any organization that does not simply promote government propoganda. Obama is number 2 in the polls for Democratic voters, yet 43% of the population still does not know who he is. Do not get your information about Obama from BS parodies such as what I saw at RegisteredMedia.com. Microsoft, yes; Obama, no.
As more people find out about him, even more people are going to like him, just as I have. Not so good news for Hillary. I firmly believe that Republicans will find it much easier to defeat Hillary than Barack Obama in 2008.
Again, I apologize for going off on an off-topic rant here, but that Obama parody is a baseless smear put out by people who cannot come up with anything substantive to object to Obama's candidacy, so they have to dip into the old smear tactics left over from 2000 and 2004. I do not think those tactics will work for a third election.
