Will Apple release a black iMac?

With the second quarter of 2007 approaching, people are thinking about hardware updates from Apple. According to MacScoop, Apple may make a black 24" iMac available with the next revision, possibly in March.

When the original black iPod sold so well, Apple made the color available to other iPods, as well as the MacBooks. I think a black iMac would be cool, as long as it isn't significantly more expensive just for being black (like the MacBook).

The reason the black MacBook is more expensive is because it has a bigger Hard Drive and a gig int the RAM but I dont know a black iMac would be really nice

Since I use my iMac primarily as a TV (now that I have a MBP) and I didnt want a white frame around the screen, I made my own with black contact paper! I had to cut a small round hole where the apple logo is because the remote sensor is hidden behind the logo. Image here: http://www.jessecoleman.com/My_Blac_iMac.jpg

Black iMac looks great. Apple should definitely make this...it's about customers having a choice. Fits perfectly with their product range. I have a white 17" iMac but I would buy a 24" black iMac immediately.

I can't think of another company who is so on the ball at the moment. Everything from iTunes, to iPods, to laptops and desktops is just so well crafted and so thought through. The 20" and 23" monitor sizes seem a little too close. The 23" could be a little larger ie, 24" (as per iMac) or 25".

So, but WHAT WOULD AN UPDATE CONTAIN?
What hardware would you seem plausible to find in a iMac released within the next 10 days? I have hard time seing a rigid update but instead a small bump here and there, like graphics-card.

What do you think the next iMac would have on the INSIDE?

If you look on the Apple TV gallery on the picture of working AppleTV inside your home, on the Mac Pro in the picture there is a black Cinema Display

#16 its just a green version of the standard aqua wallpaper... which looks really cool with the black screen. I'm running it at home with my black Samsung monitor and it looks really neat. There is just something with the way the light plays off with the black that it won't do on silver or white. No Vista envy here since I'll have to put up with it at work 40+ hrs/week in a few months when we migrate anyway.

I'm for a black iMac in 20" or 24" inch. I'm already used to the dust from my black monitor attached to my Mini so I'll do the usual cleaning to keep the dust off.

actually if you configure a white macbook online with a 120GB HDD, it is only $1449, so yeah, there is $50 black tax.

furthermore, i would welcome a black imac, however i highly doubt apple would offer it with white mice and keyboards. headphones are different. white earbuds = free and very effective public advertising - people generally do not wear their mouse and keyboard out in public.

Apple won't have to release black peripherals. Just like when you buy a black iPod, your headphones, dock, etc. are all still white. Even the iPhone's headphones and dock are white, and they've only announced it in a black face. So I could see a black iMac with white keyboard/mouse. Although there are problems, like the sleep light, and I think unless they made the aluminum stand black, it would look a little ridiculous.

I think they'll stick with white iMacs.

i love the look of the black iMac, but i also think they might have colours like they did with the early iMac/eMac and clamshells, i would love to see a mock up of one of them

BillyK – no, they'll wait until I've ordered my iMac, then update it.
