"Hello!" If you weren't watching the Oscars then you might have missed the first Apple iPhone commercial. Featuring famous actors saying "hello", the new ad just ran on ABC during the Academy Awards telecast. After the montage, which includes a shot from Pixar's "The Incredibles", it ends via a shot of the iPhone, the word "Hello", "Coming this June", and the Apple logo. Just a brief feel for things to come. We'll update this post with a link to the actual commercial as soon as we can. Thanks to everyone who sent this in.
Update 2: You can watch a much higher quality video of the iPhone commercial here.
Update: You can watch a bootleg quality version of the video here.

for those who missed it - the Oscar open was also Apple related - Errol Morris directed interviews in front of a white screen - VERY reminicent of the Morris directed 'Switcher' campaign

It's a great commercial, but Apple advertising it this early points out that they're betting the farm on this one device.
It's not like it matters though. It's going to be a mega-hit.

good ad, but basically a rip off of Christian Marclay's 1995 piece "Telephones" See:

"Betting the farm" as in sales of iPods, Macs, AppleTVs, etc. will crash and burn if the iPhone isn't a smashing success?
Doubt it.

Wow, David, I'm a little let down that I'm not the only one who noticed that similarity. Good eye! But for all we know, they got CM to put it together... wouldn't be the first time they got someone to recreate their work for their purposes.

Let's also take notice that the phone as of today, in this clip is representing the at&t name as the carrier. If you look closely at the phone it displays it instead of cingular. Just a close observation I wanted to point out. I love that they used their iTunes Store Library, and made the phone seem like a god with the base tones at the end. Bravo apple, surely fit the occasion.

Here's a picture high-lighting the at&t logo as I mentioned on my comment above. For some reason I'm sure the weblog will point it out on it's own soon enough.

Hi fungible,
good point, would definitely be cool if they hired Marclay -- certainly a possibility, tho given the way ad creatives work, I can just as easily see them "borrowing" from a source most of the audience would never have heard of. I have a couple friends in the ad biz so it shouldn't be too hard to find out the story on this one.
BTW, nice seeing someone else here is into contemporary media art.
