Apple posts iPhone 'Hello' ad

We posted about the iPhone ad which appeared last night during the Oscars, but it was no where to be found on Apple's website. Now you can enjoy the ad in glorious QuickTime (HD to boot).
I, for one, find it interesting that the word 'iPhone' appears no where in the ad.

I can only guess that the commercial was produced long before the settlement re: the use of the iPhone name.

Apple didn't format the video well, and their HD version isn't really HD (480p). We've posted 720p, iPod, and 3GPP (phone) versions at the link below:

The word iPhone doesn't appear because it was a "Teaser" ad.

Beautiful ad, got the point across nicely and built a lot of excitement. Now if that $299 price point pans out I'm totally sold :)

Does anybody know the name of the song and the artist played in the ad?

I don't know if anyone else noticed but the phone now says "at&t" as opposed to "cingular" in the top corner.

Great ad. I've watched it a couple times on Apple's site and can't help from cracking up when they show Ben Stiller in Zoolander.
So who's got a list identifying all the clips?

Silky Slim,
potato's referring to Engadget's article: "iPhone to run $300-400 after contract?" (February 16)
http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/16/iphone-to-run-300-400-after-contract/
Not mentioning iPhone's name is not likely the result of the Cisco/Apple trademark dispute, but more as the product of a perk that corresponded with the effectiveness of the teaser campaign… I also liked how Apple rotated the iPhone to better demonstrate its form-factor.

Regarding the name "iPod" in the ad: some of the current iPod (+iTunes, I suppose) ads don't include the name "iPod" either. (e.g. http://www.apple.com/itunes/ads/partycolor/).

The song on the advert is 'Inside your head' by Icelandic band 'Eberg'.

Is it just me or is Apple simply no longer original? Do they credit Marclay for their iPhone ad?

I find it amazing that people can say this was a "great ad" or that it "builds up excitement". Just how exactly did it accomplish that? The only reason anyone would feel that way, is if they were already excited about the phone to begin with. Taking a bunch of clips from movies and mashing them together does not make a great ad.

looks like apple has made the switch from the cingular network to the at&t network branding. watch the hd version and stop the ad right before the "hello" text comes up. u see at&t next to the signal strength

As for the song featured in the ad — Eberg's "Inside Your Head" — I've posted a little more information and an mp3 link to it on my blog, Ground Chuck (http://www.charliefmoran.com/blogs/blogview.asp?blogID=23683).

The only thing I thought of when I saw the commercial was, "They renamed the iPhone to 'Hello'???"

here's a direct link to the "HD" version from apple: http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/apple/iphone/hello/apple-hello_848x496.mov
(got this from piecing together the .js file that generates it at http://www.apple.com/iphone/scripts/hello.js which is referenced from the video playback page

They showed a bunch of clips from famous movie in the ad (Ex back to the future, Meet the Fockers ) does that mean they will be available in itunes?
