Mii Transfer: Get Your Mii on Your Mac
I'm one of those sad souls who's dying to pick up a Nintendo Wii, but never can find one in stock. For those of you lucky enough to have one you might like to check out Mii Transfer from Mike Cohen. Says Mike, "Mii Transfer is a tiny utility which lets you copy your Miis from your Wii Remote to your computer so you can share them on sites such as MiiPlaza.net and edit them using Mii Editor." Well as soon as find a Wii, at least I know my Mii will be well looked after.Mii Transfer is open source and a free download from Mike's site.

Update: Unfortunately, this seems not to be working for people. It would perhaps be best to contact Mike Cohen directly.

Is it Mii (excuse the pun, i couldn't resist) or does this program not work for anyone else? The icon bounces once in the dock and then disappears. I have my Wiimote ready and everything but nothing is happening.

I'm some sort of lucky bastard who's had a Wii since early Dec, yet I count myself luckier having a 1.1 MBP :-) Anyway, I'll have to give this one a try, I've been wondering how to play with my Mii on my comp.

Works for me on my MacBook. Use miieditor.com to view them online.

Doesn't work at all on iBook G4. Works for about 2 seconds on MacBook, then crashes. Back to the drawing board.

This worked for me once, but not again. The app launches fine, but when I sync my Wiimote and try to save a Mii, the program bombs out on me. Not sure why it worked the first time but failed thereafter.
But I am able to import my only successfully-imported Mii into the Mii editor:

Despite the buggy start, I'm still excited - I've been waiting for something like this for months.

Hi, I'm one of the developers of the WiiRemote Framework Mike uses in his code. There are definitely "issues" with it at the moment. It seems to work for some people and not for others - especially others with G4 or single core CPU machines.
There is quite a long discussion over at the DarwiinRemote Sourceforge forum (http://sourceforge.net/projects/darwiin-remote/) trying to figure out exactly what's going on, and Apple has offered to take a look at things.
One bit of advice for now is to delete the Wiimote from your Bluetooth device list before running his software. That seems to help.
Again, sorry for the unreliability.

Actually, this works reliably for me, but only when saving the Mii from slot 1. If I try from any other slot, the program bombs out.

I found out from several people that it won't launch on a PowerPC Mac. Since my only G4 Mac lacks bluetooth, I've only been able to test it on Intel Macs. I'll make sure it's properly linked to run on a PowerPC and get the fix out in the next few days.

Mike, any idea why only slot 1 will transfer?

I tried this app and at first it did not run, after working with it in Xcode I got it to run. I relinked the Framework and made the app project aware of the framework project so there is no need to precompile it.
I tested it on G3 (crashed, perhaps due to the lack of Bluetooth), G4 (worked), and G5 (worked).

The version listed by Cristofer Cruz seems to work well for me, although random miis I didn't send to the remote were in different slots. But it worked.

Thanks Cristofer, your version allows me to get Miis from all the slots on my Wiimote.
Now if only they can make the MiiEditor site represent the Miis more accurately...
