NYC store cube as advertising space
Now we know why Steve loves his cube so much: It's free advertising space! Earlier yesterday morning (Monday, March 12th), workers placed a huge iPhone ad over one side of the cube. It features the now familiar image of a hand holding an iPhone and the line, "Introducing iPhone. Apple reinvents the phone."So, what's going to be the next ad on the cube?
Thanks, Arnold!

I think they should put up a pic of the 5th Avenue store. :-)

Its since been removed... something about advertising regulations in pubic spaces - such as those in front of many NYC buildlings.

Is that a giant AirPort Extreme base station in the foreground?

I heard the ad was removed later in the day... probably due to restrictions in the NYC sign code... billboards are big business...

They should put up a pic of an iMac! Or an Apple logo

Anyone else that thinks that "Introducing iPhone. Apple reinvents the phone" is a pretty bad slogan? And maybe that iPhone gets too much attention?

@ Shaun Andrews
"advertising regulations in pubic spaces"? Blimey! I'm not having people advertising on my pubes!

Wow that really grabbed some attention. Nothing like grabbing a few more million eyeballs.

While I don't particularly like this ad or the slogan as somebody mentioned earlier, I don't get why everyone is bitching about putting up an iMac or Apple logo up there. The Apple logo is there. It's embedded inside the cube which in my opinion looks much better than if they would have just stuck a crappy poster of the Apple logo.

I was just going to say I wonder how they got a permit to put up that billboard, when I read it was taken down. I wonder if they could have gotten away with putting it on the inside

[oops, truncated comment]
I was just going to say I wonder how they got a permit to put up that billboard, when I read it was taken down. I wonder if they could have gotten away with putting it on the inside of the glass wall :-)
Perhaps they can temporarily replace the Apple logo suspended inside with a giant 3-D spinning hand holding an iPhone. :-) Personally I think the ad marred the clean lines of the building.

Shame, I was at the Apple store at 2am that morning.
I guess they put up ads "later" in the morning.
