Found Footage: Steve introduces the iRack

Apple's increasing popularity is making Steve Jobs more recognizable outside of the usual circles of computer geeks. As a purveyor of pop culture, he's ripe for satire. SNL has aired some reasonably funny skits, but Mad TV really hits a homer with this skit: Steve introduces the "iRack." It doesn't really poke fun at Steve as much as use him as a tool for social commentary. It's really funny.

"macster, you'll probably never read this, but the first line you quoted was blatently sarcastic"

Sure I read this, I'm not some anonymous coward, I post here all the time. And I'd like to believe it was blatantly sarcastic, perhaps it was, however, that is irrelevant, because the 5 others just like it weren't.

I'm usually very nice when posting, and I really like all my Macs, but sometimes the fanboyism and idiocy is just too much to take without comment.

Yes, they said "Apple Computers" instead of "Apple Computer" or better yet, "Apple", and they messed up which computer was which. Yes, yes, I noticed, but who the heck cares; the skit had nothing to do with Apple, they were just using a well know icon to make point, in a very funny way.

"...plan not showcasing Apple’s products, which by the way would have made it so much better. ☺"

Seriously, I can't make this stuff up. Yes, on Mad TV, a satirical skit "showcasing" Apple's products would of been so much better, I can't agree more! I mean it, I totally agree, I'm that freakin' stupid!

I remember watching this when it first aired. I thought it was going to just be a worse version of Fred Armisen's great Jobs impression, but the iRack killed me. Great stuff.

This was a very fair skit. It not only made me laugh on the Apple Level, but it made some insightful comments on the iRack. It didn't offend me at all.

macster, you'll probably never read this, but the first line you quoted was blatently sarcastic, so you just kinda kicked yourself in the face with your comment.

I agree with Macster.
How can anyone watch that and then suggest there "might" be an undertone about Iraq? These comments made me really fear for a lot more people in the US than I originally feared for. I thought at least the Apple users we could rely on... I guess that's not entirely true.

Awesome skit! I love it! Scary to think how likely the "iRan" may be.

@ icruise: That was most likely due to copyright reasons, which is the same reason why they don't even use the real logo. So before you throw another nerd hissy fit, breathe and just try to enjoy it.

"thats more of a rip on pres bush isnt it? irack sounds like iraq, 20,00 more troops like money...lots of similarites...no plan...its kinda rippin on the war"

"If you listen closely, I think this sketch had a second meaning."

First off, that was totally funny. Second off, are you people dumb as a box of rock? Seriously, can you tie your own shoes?

"If you listen closely...", really? Closely? I hope you're joking.

"... it's kinda rippin on the war", really, no kidding, is oxygen kinda gettin' to your brain.

I like this site, but I wish the comments were decent, it would make this a great site, man does it need moderation, ala, slashdot.

Am I think only one really annoyed by the fact that they keep saying "Apple Computers" (in the plural)?
