Missing Sync for Blackberry out of beta

Rejoice, o ye owners of Pearls and such: Mark/Space's Missing Sync for Blackberry is out of beta and on sale today. $40 for new licenses, $20 for cross-grades from other Missing Sync editions... but wait, you say, isn't PocketMac for Blackberry free of charge now? Yes it is, and you get what you pay for. (Kidding. Much love, PocketMac.)
A couple of key features in MSfB for the road warriors among us: iTunes and iPhoto syncing for capable devices (eh), you can charge your Blackberry via your laptop's USB ports (yay!), and Notes sync now includes Yojimbo as a data source (YAY!). Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a demo download available at the moment, so I suppose you pays your money and you takes your chances.

It's good software. The developers are very responsive to bugs and I've had no trouble with syncing using 2 Macs. The biggest bug right now lies with Entourage all-day events coming across as noon-to-noon events on the Blackberry. But if you change the event on the Blackberry to all-day it syncs back and forth just fine. They are working on a fix.

"you can charge your Blackberry via your laptop's USB ports (yay!)"
I don't think I'd call this a feature since you can charge your blackberry with any usb port putting out power.

Ben: Unfortunately, that's not the case. If there are no drivers for the Blackberry on the attached machine, it won't charge. Same thing on Windows; try it sometime and see. It seems bizarre but it's the way it is.

There is a preview version available. It's the final beta version and you can get it on this page: http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_bb_issues.html
Just go to the bottom of the page to find the link.

Actually, in my experience, "you get what you pay for" with the PocketMac software is exactly right. I could never get the damn thing to sync right with my 8700, whereas the Missing Sync software got damn near everything right from the first public beta.
If only Mark/Space could figure out the tethering thing...

Am I missing (no pun intended) something here?
MissingSync will sync Entourage but not Mail according to their the features page.
I don't use Entourage...

#7: HK, you don't need to sync your mail from Mail, it should be going directly to your Blackberry. You need to sync your Address Book and iCal, which MSfB will do (in fact any data source that works with Sync Services).

So then what is/ are the difference(s) between MissingSync and the free PocketMac?

I've had no problems with PocketMac. I did, however, have a ton of issues using Missing Sync for my Treo--in fact, syncing problems are a large reason why I switched devices. I see no reason to use this software.

Mmm, I have PocketMac and only worked once since I bought my Pearl, uninstalled and reinstalled a dozen of times and nothing, endless hours with tech support from RIM and never got it to work again. I have been waiting for this but, does it work? Or should I wait for the ....iPhone???

I have Mark/Space Missing Sync ($40) for my Motorola Q, and it's slow, buggy, unreliable, unintuitive, inelegant. On the other hand, PocketMac ($0)for my BlackBerry 7130C is fast, smooth, reliable, and easy to use.
I would NEVER recommend a Mark/Space product based on my experience. Mark/Space Blackberry software is superfluous; we already have a FREE, reliable Blackberry syncing software.

Yeah, I've been charging my blackberry without above software for almost two years now. Granted, I have had Pocketmac for BB since before it was free, so I may have always had the drivers, but I can definitely charge my BB without Missing Sync....

Yep, either set of drivers (PocketMac or MSfB) will let you charge; disable the kexts, no charging.
If PocketMac works well for you, congratulations! You've saved money. There are many folks who have serious issues with PocketMac; it never worked for me personally, in part because I wanted to selectively sync some datatypes and let others sync wirelessly via Exchange/BES.
