now when will adobe and apple release their own 3d app? maybe i3d and 3d Cut pro. Both companies have creative suites which sorely lack a 3d App. If they have a simple app on the lines of swift 3d (with better timeline support) they'll get more people interested in the industry. It's also very beneficial to have a complete ecosystem and to keep customers locked in.

@frogbat, I think it would have taken longer for CS3 to come out if Adobe wanted to add a 3D app (beyond what PS Extended can do).
There are some good 3D apps out there already. I don't think the market is starving for Adobe and Apple to join that crowd.

they've added some basic 3d to pshop extended and apple are using 3d spaces in motion 3 so i reckon a fully fledged 3d app could be a possibility in the future especially since both companies are trying to corner the creative market. Between motion, shake and final cut apple have fine products for manipulating captured work but none or creating it...
And yeah there are some excellent packages out there (the mac is sorely lacking 3dstudio etc however) but many of these packages are beyond what perhaps layout designers and web designers need on a more casual basis. The interfaces of these apps have come on in leaps and bounds but are still not the friendliest out there. I reckon there's a market for entry level and pro 3d sw from a sw stable which creative types are already familiar with.

I'm still really struggling to understand why Lightroom isn't part of CS3, especially when they went to the (dubious) trouble of re-branding it ‘Photoshop Lightroom’.

Waitn, Intel Macs and PCs only? Wow.... Again Windows has noting on screwing over non-upgraders. It makes me laugh every time i see that mac commercial with the PC going to get the operation because he's not ready for vista. They should have an older Mac guy walk out and go "hey at least you can upgrade... we just get taken out to pasture and shot"
