TV Shows: automatic torrent finder

This falls into the category of we report, you decide (what to do with it). TV Shows is an open source project that simplifies bittorrenting. It is not itself a Bittorrent client, rather it interfaces tvRSS together with your bittorrent client (whatever it happens to be) to let download shows automatically. Basically, you run the TV Shows client and pick whichever shows you want downloaded. After you close the client, a daemon runs in the background monitoring tvRSS and when a new show is available it downloads the torrent automatically and sends it to your default bittorrent client.
TV Shows is open source and a free download from Sourceforge.
Thanks, Bradon!

I always wondered how folks who decided to get their TV shows via Bittorrent knew when new episodes were available.

I've been using it for about two weeks now, and I have to say the application does it's purpose.
Because of the program I have been able to reconnect with so many TV shows.
I don't watch TV. Between commercials, finding time thats usually random, and more, it's too much of a hassle.

I tried this app last week, I chose a few shows and it finds them and automatically opens up and starts downloading them. The problem is that even with many many sources the download time for one show is usually 5 or 10 days...

Yes, and please don't e-mail me when you see that the application "ruby" wants to make a connection to zeus.dogtoe.com. zeus.dogtoe.com is the reverse DNS address of the server that tvRSS is on.

Works perfectly. Now the next step would be for the program to connect to ipodnova, podtropolis, etc. so ipodready mp4's can be downloaded and added to my itunes :)

Been using this for a few days now. It's quite pleasing to wake up and find that last night's episode of [whatever] is waiting.
The TVRSS source is pretty messy, though. Many shows are duplicated with slightly different spellings, and some stuff for which current episodes are widely available is missing entirely (Conan, Letterman, others).
The interface also needs work. Counter-intuitively, when the TVShows application is running, the search daemon process does not function. It only starts to function when TVShows application is not running. And if your curious about the status of the search daemon, you have to launch TVShows because otherwise there's no indication anywhere of whether or not it's enabled. It could really use a status indicator in the dock or menubar.

I've used tvrss for about 2 years, and I've had no problems with it. Remember, you may see duplicates if both the sources it uses (EZTV and VTV) both release the same show.

Nice but the the 720p option in prefs doesn't seem to work.
