First Apple retailer in Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City is the new home of Vietnam's first Apple retailer. The store, which is a subsidiary of Vietnam's largest company, FPT, will sell Apple merchandise including laptops and computers. This won't be an "Apple Store" per se, as the store will also carry software and electronics from other manufacturers such as IBM, Nokia, Samsung and Toshiba. The details are still a bit scarce and we could not track down any pictures.

"This is troubling news" Don't you have any retailers in Western Massachusetts that sell Apple product? This is not an 'official' Apple Store, but the same as any other company that retails the product. Cummon, really, do you think they'd have those crappy chairs, dated airconditioner, or even those flowers in a REAL Apple Store?

Just because the store is opening in another country, doesn't mean that our economy is failing. On the contrary, its a trade which has been done over and over to HELP the US econ called Quarenary activity (not sure i spelled that right). And....they won't use macs to really spearhead their supposed missle system anyways, why buy it when there are those millions of stolen IBM, windows machines?

Too bad I didn't hear about this last week.
My girlfriend was in Ho Chi Minh city, and could have gotten some pictures.

Yeah, it is. How about the ban on export of certain encryption software? Is the Mac classified as one? Will they be used to control to missle array arming at good ol' America?
This is troubling news. Communist China and Communist Vietnam get Apple stores before we get one in western Massachusetts. More proof that our failed regional economy is even worse than first thought.
