"Deluxe" boxed edition of Disco available
Disco is the multi-session media burning application that features pretty "smoke" (that I've never gotten to work), automatic indexing, support for VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders and more (we've written about Disco several times). It's $30US as a download, but soon will be available as a $40US "deluxe" boxed edition. What do you get for $10US? Bundled CD and DVD disc labeling software that includes several templates (you can make your own as well). As for me, I'm content to grab a Sharpie.Disco requires OS 10.4.3 or later.

Having used Disco and Toast 8, I'll stick with Toast 8. I wanted Disco to be good so badly, but it does nothing better than Toast. The non-standard interface of Disco was fun for the first 15 minutes, but the novelty wore off. Toast creates a lot less coasters too.

So they design a program with a great, exciting UI, and they sell it in that box.

Looks like they got the hint and successfully toned down the box art to non-Delicious levels. "Too much sizzle, not enough steak." ;)

I don't undertand the bad rap Disco gets. I like simple and I like things that just work (like OSX and Linux). Disco works for me. I drag and drop, the smoke "works" fine for me too. I burn a lot of stuff and this little app has been a workhorse for me and has never failed. OTOH, Toast has at times.
Toast is good, don't get me wrong but, Disco is one of my most used apps and one I gladly plunked down the $$ for. For me, it's a keeper and one I recommend.

I've got to agree with bebopredux. I have given my "old" iBook to my parents and Disco thrilled them because it was the first burning program that didn't confuse the heck out of them. It is simple, makes sense, and has never burned a coaster for me or my parents.

Disco's really slick - great UI and great functionality. To this day I really don't get the animosity that some people have for it; the developer made burning discs easy and the app sells for a reasonable price. Great stuff.

Right? I've used various renditions of labeling software and always found myself retuning to sweet sharpie love.

It would appear that Disco lacks one feature found in virtually every other COMMERCIAL burning program -- the ability to copy Audio CD's. (If I am wrong, please let me know. It is not advertised on their web site).
When that feature is added, I might consider it. Until then I will stick with the great FREE Burning solutions --
SimplyBurns and
LiquidCD
