Salling Clicker v3.5 brings new Front Row controls, device support and much more
One of the major things I miss about switching away from a Windows Mobile or even Sony Ericsson mobile phone is Salling Clicker - just about the best darn software I've ever seen for controlling your Mac with a mobile phone or PDA. Clicker offers a wide array of customizable controls with which you can enable your device to control everything from iTunes to Keynote, and even do things like pause music when a call comes in or lock your display if you walk too far away from your Mac. While I cross my fingers that Salling Software can create a BlackBerry client sooner than later, the rest of you can enjoy today's v3.5 update which ushers in a slew of new features and wider support for yet more devices. At the top of the feature list is support for Front Row, potentially eliminating the need to pack an Apple Remote when venturing out. Other new features include: improved iTunes functionality with quick access to current playlists and more browsing options, support for Windows Mobile 6 and Symbian 9.x devices, much easier Wi-Fi connections for Symbian and WinMo devices, improved Keynote and PowerPoint functionality and much more (I should also note that Salling Clicker for Windows now supports Vista as well).
Check out the main product page of Salling Clicker for Mac if you're new to the possibilities of this excellent software, or take a look at the v3.5 press release to get a look at what's new for you seasoned clickers. A demo is of course available, while a license costs a mere $23.95.

There is other remote software, for example, Mobiola Web Camera which converts your mobile phone into a wireless webcam for your PC. Read more here:

The salling clicker guy is honestly the laziest programmer ever.

The Sony Ericsson K800 is hardly a niche device! It's one of the best selling handsets of the past year, especially in Europe. It's currently #2 on Amazon.co.uk's best sellers list: http://tinyurl.com/2ed92k
and had sold 879,901 units by January 31 2007 in the UK alone.
Where do you get your "facts" from?
And, anyway, the previous version of Salling Clicker worked fine with the K800. At least I've been using it with no problems for almost a year.
any seasoned Newton user knows they can use VNC to control their mac :p
I love Salling clicker - one of my all time favorite purchases
hmm, no support for my newton messagepad 2000. Oh well, I don't even have an intel mac, but this would be fun to use at the apple stores. At least my newton can still control my TV...

The K800 is a fairly niche device, and Salling probably took a while to support it simply because not that many people requested it.
Developers might not know to implement a feature unless we ask them to. The more requests for a feature, the sooner it happens.
wow the K800 has been out for nearly a year now and they only just supported phone events well done salling guys on the ball as ever

The OS hasn't been updated since 2002 and I just couldn't stand it anymore. I found their software aging very quickly, and the devices weren't getting that much better. It seems like they just had a hit with the Treo and might as well have changed their name to Treo, Inc.
