Everyone seems to be very excited about the possibility of the Beatles catalog being available on iTunes. Now, I'm a fan of the Beatles, but it seems to me that everyone who is big into the Beatles already has all their work, and even if they were missing somethings the real fans would demand high quality tracks than those currently available on iTunes (it would be great if the tracks were DRMless though). That being said, I am sure some folks are excited about Sir Paul McCartney's announcement that his next release will be his first available for download via iTunes. He also says that the Beatles catalog is very close to being available online.

Even if you already own the entire catalog - you'll want to re-purchase it. The sound quality will be incredible compared to the early 90's CD's. Pick up a copy of "1" or "Love" and compare the sound quality to those original CD's. Night and Day.

Yes, we already have all the beatles we need even without iTunes, but this is important if only as a milestone. The day when the biggest old time hold out joins the digital revolution.

Real fans do not even own Beatles CD. Vinyl baby, cannot get any better than pristine analogue. The Beatles, Led Zep and Classical can only be listened to on vinyl.

I'm sure a lot of Beatles fans already have their library. Some of us grew up with the music and didn't move ahead with the CD's. I bought "One", and that's it.
However, I'm older, I have a bit more money to spend on music now, and I'm getting nostalgic. It's a perfect time for me to go back and buy those old albums - particularly after they've been remastered.
There's a market for the Beatles on iTunes. I'm waiting for those albums, and I hope the catalog from John, Paul, George, and Ring from their days after the Beatles.

I recently went and saw Cirque de Solei's (spelling?) Beatle's Love. While I feel the choreography seemed to be a last minute thing, the sound system playing the Beatles music was absolutely fantastic. Not too loud it enveloped me with their music in a way that no sound system has ever done before. It was just absolutely amazingly great!
If there was just someway to get sound like that out of an iPod ...

Remastered is still in AAC format and sounds worse than a CD.

I'd love to see McCartney's entire back catalog on iTunes. He was putting out a lot of singles back in the 70s (Junior's Farm, Helen Wheels, Give Ireland Back to the Irish) that I'd love to pick up.

I agree with Galls. The only way I would buy the Beatles off of iTunes would be if they offered exclusive, new tracks of some sort. Kind of like the anthologies. I would still prefer if they were on CDs, though.
