Is that it? Some minimal speed bump.. no santa rosa for the non pro macbook i guess. Gee thats a bummer, i was hoping that apple would keep up with the market technology... well, thats it for the new macbook i was hoping to buy. I wont spend money in last month technology. The more I think about it, the more apple has let me down the past years... No more innovation, no more cutting edge technology. It seems apple does no care more about computers. All those things are now centralized on gadgets like ipod or the iphone. Shame on the macbook.. this update is crap..

Store was up for a brief moment... the "Buy" buttons weren't there and you couldn't configure the laptops to see pricing but, on the front page of the Apple store site, I saw the links ... Regular said "MacBook from $1099", Educational Store said "MacBook from $999"... I think that is a bit of a discount for the Educational price from last time around where it was $1050 or so (if I recall correctly) for the educational price low end MacBook... presumably, the $1099/$999 is for the 2.0Ghz, 80GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Combo Drive MacBook in white (unless there is a new lower end educational version)... the $1099 should definitely be for that but I wonder if the $999 is skimping on something as the low end educational iMac does... maybe RAM? Just speculation, we'll find out soon enough!

"On the frontpage, there's an ad now "Same lovable MacBook. New lovable speed." Is this an old ad or has Apple pumped up the specs on the old MacBooks?"

bumped the specs on the macbooks. they now have a minimum 1GB RAM and 80GB HDD, and are all C2D 2.0Ghz or 2.16GHz. Everything else looks the same.

Good update for my sister, who was going to purchase one last week, but I told her to wait until WWDC. This speed bump makes the entry level model a much faster computer than it was before, for the same price.

I'm guessing we'll see updated Macbook Pros and iMacs with Santa Rosa at WWDC, probably brand new designs for each as well. Macworld in January will see a redesign of these Macbooks probably.

If only I had lots more money :)

All C2D 2.0 or 2.16GHz, minimum 1GB RAM
