Voyager: Now you see it, now you don't

What is it with the iTunes Store and Star Trek? I blogged a few days ago that the first season of Star Trek Voyager was available for purchase via the iTunes Store. We then got a report that the episodes were 'abridged,' though I can't verify that for myself. Now, Voyager is no where to be seen on the iTunes Store. Keep in mind this isn't the first time Star Trek has disappeared from iTunes, only to warp back onto it at a later date.

Here's hoping Capt. Janeway can get her crew and ship out of whatever calamity has made them go missing.

Personally, I didn't really care for Voyager until I started watching the reruns on Spike in the last few months. Much like DS9, I think the best shows of the series were in the last 4 seasons.

I enjoyed the repeats more, it got better as it went along, same with Enterprise, which was somewhat annoying; just as I was getting into it, they axed it.

I know I shouldn't but...

"Always the hate for Voyager."

Dude, other people are allowed to have opinions which differ from yours, you know.

Andrew, what's the name of that Voyager book you referenced?

Voyager had some of my favorite Trek episodes of all time. Chakotay was underdeveloped, but Janeway was a great character. Same for The Doctor, Neelix and both Tom & B'Lana.

Sexing it up for the lowest common denominator is what nearly ruined it. Fred is right. The Borg were Trek's menacing super-villians and Voyager kind of ruined that. And Seven of Nine prancing around in her cat-suit was just retarded. She did end up having a few good episodes, but The Doctor was the best character for reflecing on humanity.

Hell. How can you not love a show that made even the usually detestable Andy Dick respectable for 44 minutes? His guest shot as an EMH was great!

Ur not a fan then.

It did its job. Explored strange new worlds, sought out new life etc etc with an interesting, likable cast without having to go backwards like the Enterprise series did and the new movie apparently will.

If they had any sense when Voyager ended, instead of the last TNG movie that came out they would have done a movie based on the Voyager book released about what happened after they reached home. It had the Enterprise cast and Voyager cast dealing with a threat to Earth and tidied things up nicely for that era of the show with both casts.

Always the hate for Voyager. It got me into Star Trek in the first place.

What bugged me most about Voyager was when they turned the Borg into the monster of the week. The Borg were no longer scary or intimidating, they were like Klingons that didn't want to think.

The other thing that bugged me about Voyager was their attempts to use shadows and hand placement to hide 7 of 9's ass. Commander T'pol in Enterprise is ok with a nice camera shot from behind, but for some reason they were puritanical during Voyager.

Nelix was ok, and Voyager did wonders for Robert Picardo's career. Out of all the Star Trek series, it will always be the red headed stepchild. Despite Enterprise's failings they more than made up for it with the oily T'Pol segments.
