Apple posts iPhone welcome video

The teasing and tantalizing continues unabated for the iPhone faithful, as it undoubtedly will for the next 174 hours or so. The latest document of longing is Apple's newly posted Guided Tour video, available in small, medium, large and a 178MB downloadable version (your mileage may vary with the standalone file; my download choked off at 50 MB and resulted in an unsurprisingly unplayable QT file).
Enjoy the moment.
Thanks to Peter and Josh for the tip

@13,16,20: Absolutely B.S. that this phone that is an iPod won't use your music as ringtones! This is a deal breaker for me! Anyone who spends 99cents on a full song and $1.99 for a 20 sec. lofi ringer is a sucker.

Thats crazy. I really want an iPhone, although I still have about 9 months left on my contract with Verizon, and also, I have large fingers, so hopefully that won't be a problem. Hopefully when the crowds die down at the Apple Store or the AT&T stores, I can demo one.

June 22 2007 at 7:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRingtones and batteries aside, what about voice dial? Still no word on that, if I'm not mistaken. What the heck good is a bluetooth headset without voice dial.
Ugh.
I was looking back on the first post when the iPhone was first announced and there were pictures from Steve Job's keynote on it, and one of them showed his iPhone connected to iTunes and there were multiple tabs like "Personal, Music, Video, Podcasts, etc." like when you plug your iPod in now. Well, there is also the "Ringtones" tab, so maybe we will be able to set our own mp3's as ringtones still. Don't give up hope yet.

June 22 2007 at 3:58 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNotice near the beginning that the toolbar at the bottom of the screen slides up from offscreen. I wonder if this means we can hide somehow. Here's a sequence of screen captures:

Or just watch the beginning of the video closely.
Is anybody else concerned about the state of the Calendar application? There is not one demo on it, anywhere; not in the keynote, not in this video, nowhere. I'm concerned that it's not complete, or that it won't have the features that one would expect in an iPhone application.

But there are several things that are getting more and more conspicuous by their absence every day. While more information and detail keeps appearing about the iPod, mail, Google maps, and YouTube, there hasn't been a mention of the functions of:
- Calendar
- Camera
- Notes
- Clock
- Calculator
Yes, the last two are probably pretty uninteresting, but isn't it odd that Calendar has never been demoed? More evidence that they are deliberately not aiming this at the business market, I suppose.
Love that they are embracing the gestures of the Newton, such as the "cross out" swipe to delete items. Very intuitive, and shows that there are "shortcuts" in the interface for advanced users.
