Line report: Massachusetts AT&T store

Just to change things up a bit, I'm in line at my local AT&T store. OK, the truth is I live in the boonies and my "local" Apple Store is 2 1/2 hours away. But we're still having fun!

There are about 25-30 people in line as of this writing (about 4:30 PM Eastern). The store's staff have distributed pamphlets explaining the rates and plans (nothing we haven't seen yet) and a camera crew was here filming earlier. The iPhone displays have been in the store windows for about a week now, but there's still no sign of an actual phone - just anxious customers and antsy employees.

PS - I got chastised by mall security for using my camera, so I had to sneek this pic with my MacBook Pro's iSight.

Update: The line has gained about 2 customers every five minutes over the last half hour. Things should really pick up once the 5:00 work shift ends.

I swung by our local Cambridgeside Galleria here across the Charles from Boston and was told by a Cambridge police office not to take any photos. The shutter on my camera had not even open and closed once and I was shut down. I wanted to take a few pics of the blacked out store, the folks in line, etc…

I know today belongs to the iPhone, but this "NO PHOTOS" b.s. is driving me nuts. I spoke about it with the officer (who was actually very friendly). He confirmed: 9/11 and copyright infringement. Copyright infringement is total crap, because I can just go online and steal anything I want. But 9/11 has been an excuse to prevent us from doing ANYTHING for too long now. I can't take pictures at the mall because its a security risk? Terrorists are taking pictures of malls to blow them up? Do we have to live in fear? Do we have to stop everyone from doing anything because a terrorist may be amongst us? Life?! Liberty?! The pursuit of happiness?!

I suppose I should've just posted this on my own blog. I am sorry. Go iPhone!
