Steven Levy's iPhone NOT almost stolen on live TV

Update: A close analysis of the audio (thanks Brian and commenters!) indicates that the perp was actually going for the Fox reporter's microphone and not the iPhone itself. Stranger and stranger.

Oh, man, this is just getting completely out of hand. Dailymotion has a clip of Fox News interviewing Steven Levy outside the 5th Avenue Apple Store today, and just as the Newsweek writer was saying how he's one of only four people to have gotten an advance look at the iPhone... blammo, in swoops a would-be thief who accidentally grabs the reporter's microphone in his attempt to get at the iPhone.

Nobody hurt, and they apparently grabbed the guy... but c'mon, everybody, please settle down before someone gets hurt. See the video after the jump.

I'm a proud FOX news lover as well as Mac-addict. I think it's great to be both!
I even made a 'BOX news' spinoff for school using Final Cut :)
FOX uses Macs too, on occasion.
Just because Jobs's political views are stupid (i.e. liberal) doesn't mean every Mac user has liberal political beliefs.

@buzzert, @Jim, @clintondidzip4us:
Oh, Christ. The infestation of this blog by reactionary elements is prima facie evidence of TUAW's incongruity within the Mac ecosystem.

Hey, conservatives! Can you name a single "Think Different" icon who wasn't a flaming liberal? While you're struggling with that one, you might also want to take a look at this:

Sorry, Murdoch-lovers, but your political philosophy just isn't Mac-compatible. Now leave.

Jim,

You got your president in the white house, had your own congress and also got those gas prices to go up like you wanted.

Let's not forget about that war you wanted too. :D

Let the "liberals" have their hatred of Fox.

Anyway, the guy was going for the mic. tho even if he was going for the phone, where was he going to go with it?

I hope he enjoys jail over stupid mess.

This type of publicity can't be bought, Apple is going to rake in the dough tonight. As for all the liberal fanboys out there. Tell me your a liberal so you dont like FOXs conservative viewpoints, i can respect that. But when you tell me that CNN is more fair in their reporting than FOX, well then I know your just an idiot!

It never ceases to amaze me how childish liberals become over Fox News. You'd think that having CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, AP, Reuters, NY Times, Washington Post, BBC, Hollywood, etc., ad infinitum, towing the liberal line that libs wouldn't get so worked up about Fox News. I guess they can't stand to have their world-view challenged. It's so infantile.

If I saw a Fox News camera, that's what I'd do.
I mean, maybe not if they were 5000 thousands people in the immediate surroundings watching me.
