iPhone orders at online Apple Store see 2-4 week delays

Uh oh, it looks like Apple might have dumped the majority of their iPhones into brick and mortar stores, making web shoppers wait longer than usual for a new device. The online Apple Store currently displays a 2-4 week shipping time for both 4GB and 8GB iPhones. While this could simply be an overestimation to help manage the demand, it might be motivation for more users to try their luck if they have a local Apple or AT&T store. Just remember: only one phone per customer is allowed at AT&T stores, while Apple has a cap of 2, and you can always check your local Apple Store's iPhone stock from the comforts of your pajamas before making the trek.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

My phone which was slated to ship by the 13th now says "prepared to ship". Anyone know how long it will be "prepared to ship"?

Anyways, looks like it might actually be shipped before the 13th, or at least my fingers are crossed!

I ordered mine 36 minutes after the Apple website came back up. My phone isn't going to ship until July 13. I ordered a case for it 2 hours later and it has already shipped. I guess I can carry my empty case around until my Iphone comes in a week later :(

Thanks Scott. Good to know. I wonder how many iPhones were ordered between 6:10 and 8:45 because obviously that's what's going to determine how long it takes for mine to get here.

Now my device is listed as "prepared to ship" It has been my experience that when apple says prepare to ship, its on its way out the door.

So they are three days ahead of the Ship by July 6th...

Maybe you don't have that long to wait...

Darn! I guess I'll be waiting a little longer. Serves me right for waiting until 8:45 Friday night to order mine. Oh well...
