Ollie Wagner sends word that he has release both of his Spencere apps, Menuet and Art Collector, as careware. Over on his site, you can get both of the apps for free, as long as you promise to donate to the charity of your choice (he's listed eight good choices if you don't have a preference). We've covered both before-- Menuet is a pretty iTunes controller with a few other features built in, including Last.fm support, themes, and a sleep timer. Art Collector grabs artwork from Amazon for your iTunes library-- it's a little useless, because iTunes now does this for you, but if there are a few covers iTunes can't find, maybe Art Collector can.
Together, they used to run around $13 (although Art Collector separately was $7, and was originally bundled with Menuet). If you've seen these before and never gotten a chance to try them, here's it is, and hopefully you can help out a charity as well.

The problem with the new delicious generation apps is that no one out there really cares about them. It takes years for them to develop it and yet it still lacks in function over form. If their apps don't sell, they give it out for free. There's really no dedication.

When I started reading this article I thought for a sec that Art Collector might be an app that collects any/all files that are jpg, gif, bmp, et cetera from your computer so they can easily be seen all in one place.
I keep a lot of pictures in my Pictures folder and then in various sub-folders within that, plus I have other folders for certain things that have pictures/images that are not in my pictures folder.
Is there an app like that for mac os x (10.3.9 upwards, preferably)? Or is this a really obvious thing like "you just go Apple "F" and arrange by type..."?

I'm assuming this means we'll never see an update, which is a real shame. I love the app, but I'm real tired of telling it not to install Smart Crash Reports every time I restart. If I'm not mistaken it relies on the Menu Extra Enabler Input Manager as well, which makes Leopard compatibility uncertain. I suppose it's time to look for something new.
