iPhone 101: Stop automatic synchronization

Sometimes you want to connect your iPhone to your Mac just to give it a charge. However, iTunes launches each time and starts a time-consuming synchronization. How can you prevent this?

The solution is pretty easy. First, connect your iPhone to your Mac and launch iTunes. Next, click on your iPhone in the sidebar and then de-select the "Automatically sync when iPhone is connected" option in the first tab. The next time you connect your iPhone to your Mac, you won't initiate a whole ordeal. Ahhh.

Tip of the Day

To find out what version of Mac OS you are running, go to the Apple logo in the top left corner, click it and choose About This Mac. From that window you will see the version number, processor, memory and chosen startup disk. Clicking Software Update will check for updates, and More Info... will open up an extensive list of everything on your machine.
