Found Footage: Disassemble your iPhone for fun and profit
Maybe it's just because I'm a big geek, but there's something absolutely fascinating about watching the complicated process of disassembling an iPhone. PDAParts.com produced the above video to go with a forthcoming DIY screen repair kit for the iPhone. Nonetheless, it's just cool to see what it takes to get one apart, admiring Apple's engineering chops along the way. For those of you worried about the battery, it's also interesting to see what replacing it will take. According to the video it's soldered to the motherboard, so putting in a new one will be quite a bit tougher than on the iPod. Obviously opening your iPhone will void your warranty, so I'd say this is probably more one to watch than to do!

I was a bit worried when he started disassembling the thing with it still on.

Ha. Sorry for the double (triple) post. I thought the Safari beta crapped out whilst sending in a standard text form as it often does.

I met this guy! He was person 3 in line at the AT&T store in Morgan Hill. I had my girlfriend wait in line to get mine, she was number 6. It's cool to see his video on here. If anyone is looking for pda parts, definitely check out this guy's site, he is super cool and very knowledgeable.

Am I the only one who is extremely annoyed by this guy's voice? Emphasis on random words (there IS a ribbon...you WILL need to BEND it...), sometimes difficult to understand wording (the ribbon is a lever...wtf?), and monotone the whole way through :( He needs to get someone else to do his voiceover.
Cool vid, though...muted.
